The Boy Scouts of America celebrates 100 years of turning a good deed to old ladies crossing the street and communities all across this great nation. They were eco-friendly before ec-friendly was cool. According to their official web site, the BSA was incorporated on this date in 1910 by publisher W. D. Boyce who first learned about Scouting when a Scout refused payment for helping him through a fog.

I never made it past First Class. I couldn't get the hang of semaphore and signaling, a requirement that is as dead as public pay phones. But I am very proud of my association with the Boy Scouts in my capacity as merit badge counselor.

You may be surprised at some famous Eagle Scouts - http://www.usscouts.org/eagle/bsfamous.asp. I already knew about astronauts Neil Armstrong, James Lovell as well as president Ford. I found three more astronauts (assuming I didn't overlook any), including one who died in the Challenger disaster - Ellison Onizuka.

And how about this gem?
