But wait! There is!

NPR had good news for me when I woke up (too early) Jan. 1. One of Dubya's last big decisions of 2007 was give the Freedom of Information Act a shot of performance-enhancing language.

As a reporter, I pretty much have to like anything that makes getting public records easier. Unfortunately, I haven't had much reason to search federal records. Looks like I need to brainstorm some good enterprise ideas.

Plus, I just love the word Ombudsman. Say it with me folks: Om.Buds.Man.
