Franchione has been under fire since the Aggies lost to Miami on national television and it was disclosed he provided information to influential boosters for a fee.

Franchione became emotional as he defended his performance and said he intends to remain as the head football coach.

But athletic director Bill Byrne hardly gave Franchione a solid vote of confidence, saying he would not discuss the head coaching position during the season.

Franchione's future at Texas A&M is likely to be determined by how the Aggies perform on the field the rest of the season, starting with Saturday's game against Oklahoma State at Kyle Field.
