The UIL's reclassification and realignment released Friday featured no big surprises for Advocate-area teams.
Memorial being placed in a district with the Converse schools -- Judson and Wagner -- may have caught some off guard but there were rumors that it was going to happen.
It could be a positive for the Vipers, who will have to raise the level of play to compete with Judson.
Edna went from Class 2A to 3A as expected. The Cowboys should be able to compete as well in their 3A district as they did in their 2A district.
The realignment proved most beneficial for Yorktown and Ganado, which dropped from 2A to 1A. Yorktown is likely to be able to compete immediately in its new district. Ganado was placed in a tougher district that includes Shiner but will still be in a more favorable position than it has been the last two seasons.
The UIL also helped Refugio and Bloomington by taking George West and Three Rivers out of their district and inserting Banquete. Three out of six are better odds than three out of seven.
