The Memorial boys haven't won a basketball playoff game since advancing to the state tournament in 2004. The Vipers have lost three straight times in the Class 5A bi-district playoffs.
The Vipers have a chance to break that streak when they play San Antonio Clark in a bi-district game Monday night in Seguin.
Clark is a solid team and coach Kevin Hamilton always does a good job, but the Vipers should be more athletic than the Cougars.
Clark finished fourth in its district and split with Memorial's district foes. The Cougars blew out Southwest and lost a by one point to East Central. The Vipers defeated Taft, which finished second in Clark's district.
The key will be tempo. The Vipers need to speed the pace of the game and hit their shots. The Memorial posts will also have to rebound.
The Vipers have the talent to win their first playoff game since 2004. The key to doing so will be execution.
