There's been a lot of talk about numbers among high school football fans. The talk centers around  ADA or average daily attendance to be exact.

Schools turned in their ADA to the UIL in October and will find out what classification and district they will be in for football on Feb. 1, when the UIL releases its biennial realignment and reclassification.

A lot of the speculation has centered around Class 3A and 2A. Class 3A included schools with ADAs of 415 to 949 in the last reclassification and any shift could cause a dramatic change.

The rumor mill has been red-hot with speculation about Edna going back to Class 3A after two years as a 2A school and Gnado dropping from Class 2A to 1A.

Memorial coach Mickey Finley doesn't expect much to change for the Vipers.

The speculation is sure to continue but speculation and reality are often drastically different.

  • Have also heard talk of El Campo going to 3A.  Boy, they would be one tough 3A team!  There is also the chance that Yorktown could become 1A.  Just the talk I've read on various forums.  It's going to be interesting!
