The Dallas Cowboys bid farewell to Adam "Pacman" Jones on Wednesday.
The release came not because Cowboys owner Jerry Jones suddenly had a guilty conscious, but because he was informed by ESPN of a report to air Sunday which supposedly will claim Pacman was involved in an Atlanta strip club shooting not previously reported.
Signing Pacman was a gamble, one many thought was worth taking. The gamble didn't work out. Not only did Pacman get back in trouble, but he wasn't the player many thought he would be.
Pacman was part of a dysfunctional locker room that kept the team from making the playoffs.
The operative word here is part. Other pieces of the toxic puzzle remain.
And get this - a rumor going around NFL circles is that owner Jones plans to sign former Atlanta quarterback Michael Vick, who just got out of prison on charges related to dogfighting, once he is cleared to re-enter the NFL

Vick? Say it ain't so! I agree with southtexas and I've been a Dallas fan since I was 6. Those were the days. Ice bowl, Roger the dodger, Bob Lilly (a man among men) and of course Mr. Tom Landry- may be the classiest man to ever coach pro football. I stuck with them thru the Landry deal though i was very pissed for a while. But signing Vick would be the last straw. That said I really don't expect it to be an issue. I hope Vick will never be allowed to play in the NFL again. Commisioner Goodell may have the cajones to ban him for life.

January 8, 2009 at 11:03 a.m.Any man who would do a legend like Tom Landry the way he did, deserves all the ridicule we can heap on him. I cannot express my dislike for this individual in a non-profane way.
January 8, 2009 at 10:23 a.m.I firmly believe that Jerry Jones sold his soul to the Devil many years ago and these signings are his way of paying him back. You'll never convince me otherwise.
