I feel a lot better about my vote for Heisman Trophy after watching Alabama's Mark Ingram rush for 116 yards and two touchdowns in the Crimson Tide's 37-21 win over Texas in the BCS Championship game. Ingram broke a number of tackles and many of his runs came at critical times. The loss of Colt McCoy hurt Texas, but Alabama earned the win. Garrett Gilbert will be an outstanding quarterback for Texas and how about Alabama freshman Trent Richardson, who rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns. The prospects for both teams look bright with so many players returning. A rematch next season is not out of the question. Can't wait for it to start again.

  • The game was between Alabama and The University of Texas. I blame the coaching for not having a good back up quarterback. Sure, the freshman will be good with time. Should I be invited to a championship shoot out, I'm not taking a Deringer!

  • I guess we can all speculate but if McCoy would have remained in the game, it is quite likely that the game of field position would have been different…. The original game plan was going according to plan because Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy was clearly frustrated and the outcome might have been different if the game was in McElroy’s hands…. Nevertheless. It was amazing that Texas came back despite all the miscues and remaining competitive until the waning minutes.

Hats off to the Crimson Tide they won it fair and square but congratulations to the Texas Longhorns for another wonderful season..,… I still have to fault Mack Brown for not running out the remaining seconds of the first half but I have to credit the Texas defense for their second half performance.

  • Zorro..."Mike,
You understate the significance of Colt McCoy not playing in the game. You know darn well that completely disrupted the game plan and put the game on the shoulders of a quarterback who had never played a game beyond high school. Shame on you, shame on you, you know better."

I dunno, Zorro. McCoy's absence didn't have anything to do with 'Bama's more than 200 yards in rush offense, especially the one 49 yarder for a TD by the freshman running back. Texas' defense needs to learn to tackle. I don't think his absence had anything to do with all the dropped passes by 'Horn receivers -- one in the end zone. Texas had their chances to win even with McCoy on the sideline and blew it. I'm thinkin' that being without the starting QB might be a good excuse for losing and keeps McCoy's reputation intact. Backup QB Gilbert should rent the movie "A League of Their Own" and pay particular attention to the scene in which Tom Hanks yells at his player, "CRYING? THERE'S NO CRYING IN BASEBALL."

  • A bad beat is just that, a bad beat. Alabama won on the mother of all flukes. No laurels to Alabama for beating the best team in college football. This national championship for Alabama will always be know as the one they gambled and lost and came back to win due to McCoy being sidelined.

  • Blah...Colt was speared with a helmet in the arm and not too long later the same player for 'Bama about ripped a guys head off by grabbing his face mask and no flags were tossed for either infraction.

'Bama was having a huge problem with the hurry up offense Texas was using and why oh why MB didn't keep with that offense is a mystery to me. 2nd string QB or not, the only thing that changed on the offense was the QB and he should be able to continue with the offense that was working so well prior to Colt getting hurt.

Bitter? Nah, just irritated at the poor officiating and that our offense changed with the replacement QB.

  • Disappointment in our lost to Alabama, but so Proud of the direction the football program has grown under Mack's leadership and charter. that's why we see so many of our players from North Texas will continue to return to UT,because of Mack Brown & his diverse Staff. God Speed in new recruits Coach Bruce Chambers, great job.
