VBF commented that even the cactus was shriveled and brown on the ranch. They are bringing in hay for the first time in decades. Yep, lots of prayer needed.
I have lived in Victoria for many decades now and I must say, conditions seem to be dryer than at any time I can recall. I knew something was badly wrong when one of the biggest hurricanes (size wise) filled the entire Gulf of Mexico and then went into Galveston, a mere 120 or so miles up the road and Victoria didn't get anything more than a brief sprinkle, and that was on the following day. My yard is basically dirt and my stock tanks are near empty.
Well I don't live in victoria anymore but I most certainly hope you guys get some much needed rain. I live in northern california now and it was the dryest january on record! It is usually one of the rainest months. But now we have finally got some good rain the last few days and suppose to continue for another week at least.
Alton,I got my Cherokee head dress, my best bison killin spear, my necklace of bear claws and my snake skin moccasins on and I'm dancin, shakin and doing my best to sound like a true Native American out here hootin and hollerin and all I've managed to do so far is scare the crap out of a few stray cats and make my daughter laugh. On top of that, this grass is so dry and brittle it hurts the bottom of my feet when I dance on it!! NO RAIN YET!! Maybe I'd better go on to plan "B"......can you let me know what that is?? At least I made my little girl happy!!
