I get fed up with elected officials spending money on special projects, travel, and etc. and use the excuse it is not much in the grand scheme of things.

This type of thinking is what gets the government and people in general in financial trouble.

It is real money we are talking about, it is always easier to spend someone else’s money or use the taxpayer’s credit card, because of the instant gratification factor.

In my world, I watch every penny. I pick up pennies dropped on the ground; I do not leave pennies in the dish at convenience stores. Pennies are real money, and when you don’t have enough of them, you realize just how real they are in the grand scheme of things.

It is the same with tax dollars. A few cents here, a dollar or two here, and a few more for that special project all adds up. Before long the taxpayer has a major bill and realize just how much it is in the grand scheme of things.
