Excuse me, you better rethink your comment before trying to make a weak insult.

  • Whether Alton is right, or not, (and I believe he is), President Obama has shown he will not take no for an answer. He seems to say, "Sorry people, I know best, you will see I am right in the long run". Well the long run is usually a short sprint for politicians with that attitude. Thank goodness.

Obama has bullied his way over the wishes of the majority of the American people every time he has disagreed. It is almost as tho he looks at each situation and asks himself, "how can I handle this in a way that will alienate or hurt those we need to help?". Hey, he is not a stupid man, so why is he doing this? It probably has to do with something not included in his transparency.

President Obama is to blame for much of what is happening due to his lack of skill in finding experts in each situation and listening to them.

  • thanks Mike for your guidance and knowledge!

  • Alton.

Mark Levin is Glenn Beck without the crying and with a clean shirt.

Remember we have a spat over the oil spill a week ago? Alton is right about this. How come we give Brazil money to drill, when we can here?

  • Victore.

I listen to Glenn Beck daily and I still hate his guts.

    July 15, 2010 at 4:21 p.m.

  • I just want to say that I love reading all the commentary here. Honestly, I do not claim to know enough about the topic to be an expert, but I know that if it affects jobs, it affects families - bottom line. We need to find a way to make sure jobs don't end up "sailing away," thats for sure. I'd like to see some suggestions for where those rig and oil workers could be re-employed, if the moratorium is to continue. It's a shame to watch a hard worker lose his or her purpose - their feeling of pride and dedication - that they elicit from working a hard day's labor.

  • “Let me reiterate, I don’t really care who you listen to but I think it’s only fair that the forum viewers know the facts.”

I would ask were do these so called facts emerge from, most likely the left wing liberal establishment, and it certainly couldn’t be MSNBC, because their credibility absolutely derives from the toilet bowl of intelligence and the voice of liberal propaganda. Then for someone that does not watch Glenn Beck, can come to a conclusion that his comments are outrageous. That is kind a like Obama calling the Cambridge Police stupid without no facts to back it up.

    July 15, 2010 at 2:48 p.m.

  • Good post, Alton. The abysmal incompentence demonstrated by this administration since the oil spill started is a classic example of what you get when you people an administration with folks who have never run anything more complicated than a lemonade stand when they were in grammar school, if that. While they are clearly clueless as to what to do about the spill, that is not true about what to do WITH the spill. The same Coast Guard that moved heaven and earth in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to rescue the residents of New Orleans, calling in every resource they had around the country, is now calling back deployed skimmer boats and barges to check for life preservers. The Jones Act has still not been waived, and offers of help from over twenty countries are still on hold as a result. A moratorium on deep-water drilling that was found to be arbitrary and capricious by a Federal Appeals Court has been slightly re-worded and reissued, guaranteeing even more of the deepwater rigs leaving the Gulf for more welcoming waters, of which there are many around the world. And yes, you are right -- once they are gone, it will be a long, long time before they and the 10,000 jobs return. This certainly smacks of politics, Chicago-style. Hey, Gulf Coast, see what you get for not voting for me? Hey, Sierra Club and your ilk, thanks for voting for me; here's your reward.

    July 15, 2010 at 12:51 p.m.

  • Alton, this is just another example that Obama has absolutely no experience or leadership skills to run a business, he panders to the far left environmental groups. If he had the concept on how to run a business he wouldn’t be shutting those rigs down, he just does not understand the food chain that starts from the mom and pop stores to the oil rigs and lives that it affects. There is simple no one in the WH that has business experience to advise him on his incompetence to lead, only a bunch of attorneys and radical union morons.

You’re absolutely right about Fred Hochberg he was a major fundraiser for the Obama team and a member of his transition team. Most of these fact check websites are as dependable as MSNBC. All you have to do is go to a search engine poke “obama’s transition team” it gives a list of all including that radical nut that kill those GI’s in Ft. Hood…

    July 15, 2010 at 11:24 a.m.

  • Alton, I don't want to beleaguer the point because if you want to believe that the president is underhanded, you go right ahead.
I guess it's safe to assume you did not read the source I linked because if you did, you would have known, I didn't ask the question about Obama , did.

    This is their conclusion:

    * The message falsely says the decision was due to an "executive order" by the president. No presidential order was required. Furthermore, none of President Obama’s appointees had joined the Ex-Im board at the time of the vote, which was unanimous, and bipartisan. The Ex-Im Bank states: "In fact, at the time the Bank’s Board consisted of three Republicans and two Democrats, all of whom were appointed by George W. Bush."
    * The message falsely claims that "we have absolutely no gain" from the loan. In fact, the loan is being made specifically to finance purchase by Petrobras of U.S.-made oilfield equipment and services. The mission of the Ex-Im Bank is to encourage exports.

I mentioned Glenn Beck because another fact-checking site claimed he started this conspiracy.

I don't listen or watch Glenn Beck but most of his comments are so outrageous, they bleed over to the mainstream media and the late night comics. I have several fact-checking websites bookmarked and I read them everyday. My memory may be leaving me but I remembered the incident you wrote about.

Let me reiterate, I don't really care who you listen to but I think it's only fair that the forum viewers know the facts.

    July 15, 2010 at 9:35 a.m.

  • Mike, you stated “The president had nothing to do with the loan.” The Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank)’s offical line is -- it is the official export credit agency of the United States federal government.

The “bank” currently just happens to have as it’s chairman and President Fred P. Hochberg. Fred Hochberg just happens to have been a major fundraiser for the campaign of Barack Obama for President and A MEMBER OF THE OBAMA TRANSITION TEAM.
The loan occurred on Obama’s watch, yet he had nothing to do the loan?

This “Bank” has been linked to possible covert operations, because many of its “loans” are to businesses without any known physical address. And it has been known to provide individuals who were known associates of the Sinaloa and Juarez drug trafficking cartels line of credit loans.

I dislike being dismissed as not having the ablitiy to think on my own by being someone that “pass along a Glenn Beck Conspiracy”.

From your prior post and comments it appears to me that you “listen or watch” Glenn Beck more in a week, than I watch his program in a year. I am not a fan of Glenn Beck; I am a fan of Mark R. Levin.

You asked, “Would you blame President Obama if we had another explosion because he did not do his due diligence?”

A: Like in any industry there are accidents even when every precaution is taken to prevent them (due diligence). Even if the United States halts deep-water drilling within our stated border, other countries will access the reserves from the international waters by deep-water drilling, slanted wells and etc. I don’t see how anyone can blame the President for another accidental explosion or the recent explosion.

It is my opinon that the moratorium is over reaction or the start of halting all drilling in our coastal borders. And these actions harm American citizens.

  • Bogus Brazilian Oil Claims
    September 18, 2009

Q: Did Obama loan $2 billion to Brazil’s oil company to benefit China and George Soros?
A: The president had nothing to do with the loan, which the Export-Import Bank approved for Brazil to buy U.S.-made equipment and services.

I know you post a right wing view but to pass along a Glenn Beck Conspiracy?

That rumor was debunked a long time ago.

Question: Would you blame President Obama if we had another explosion because he did not do his due diligence?
