• If a CEO made this kind of blunder they might be looking at a major bonus, to-wit:

Constellation Energy Group CEO Mayo A. Shattuck III took in $15.7 million in total compensation last year, a 44 percent annual increase in a year when the company he manages posted a nearly billion-dollar loss.

EPA Chief Lisa Jackson says natural gas production is "a good thing"

The head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) told a House committee on May 24 that she favored natural gas production and said she didn’t know of any “proven case” in which hydraulic fracturing had affected drinking water. Jackson went on to say that natural gas creates less air pollution than other fossil fuels “so increasing America’s natural gas production is a good thing.”

I read this in this morning's news and agree that politicians are poor business people. If a CEO at a major financial institution had made this type of blunder, he or she would probably be looking for a job. This is not true with politicians as voters overlook and forget.

The one that really gets me is our 2 billion dollar gift to Petrobas in Brazil to drill for oil in water deeper than the incident in the Gulf. At the same time, our government is creating regulations to hamper the drilling in this Country. I don't understand the rhetoric that says we need to create jobs and the actions that prevent job creation.

Earlier this week, I saw Gov. Ed Rendel, a Democrat, say that horizontal drilling had created 70,000 jobs in Pennslyvania. He also said that the new wells would produce all the natural gas that Pennslyvania would need and they would export surplus to other states.

At the same time, Lisa Jackson, head of EPA and under the direction of our President is pushing to stop horizontal drilling.
