The meeting of the American Astronomical Society's Solar Physics Division in Las Cruces, New Mexico was full of talk about the three separate studies presented at the meeting. The studies on the sun activities have scientists predicting a hibernation of sunspots.

If they are right, our current solar maximum cycle 24 could be the last solar maximum we'll see for a few decades. This could result in a second Maunder Minimum. The last Maunder Minimum was a period between 1645-1715, known as the "Little Ice Age."

Almost immediately scientist of “The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change” went on defense stating; “A new Maunder-type solar activity minimum cannot offset the global warming caused by human greenhouse gas emissions.”

It is not certain if we will have a new little ice age or if it will be offset by other facts.

Some things are certain, we will have more scientist making huge sums of money on speaking engagements, on television appearances, research papers, and books. We will have educators taking a position on the debate and teach it as fact. We will have politicians taking a position and making policy changes at the expense of the citizens.
