Unlike many that celebrated Memorial Day with parades and cook-outs, I do not celebrate Memorial Day. Memorial Day is a day of mourning for me. This great country has been built on the sweat, blood, and deaths of so many. Memorial Day, I mourned for all my combat buddies that did not make it home; they are burned forever in my mind’s eye. I have met many of our current disabled veterans; those with Traumatic Brain Injuries, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and with missing limbs. I mourn for their lost and lives forever changed. I love these veterans like they are members of my own family. We owe them more than we can ever repay.

On Memorial Day I mourned.
