.....for those of you who know me, you know that on Thanksgivings past, I have climbed upon my soapbox, and called attention to the plight of Native Americans, whom I feel deserve far more in the way of apologies and reparations than any others who are whining for them, but doing nothing else beyond whining and looking for a handout. This turnabout should in no way be seen to indicate that I feel any less indebted to Native Americans, though I might feel like my personal share of reparations, have without a doubt, been repaid many times over and left in the coffers of Apache and Navajo Casinos to be counted. All that said, this weekend is really a time to give thanks for whatever we feel is appropriate - friends, family, our health, our freedom(yes, despite the fact that we must wade through and fend off crooks from the streets to our own government officials), we ARE still free to do that. I am while typing this, IMing with a friend about "black Friday", which at this point, with the exception of the rampant gluttony, is the most negative thing I can point to associated with Turkeyday. And at that, black Friday, while rubbing elbows with Thanksgiving, truly belongs in the category of the merchandising cult's rape of the once religious holiday, Christmas. For what it's worth, it's been agreed, that my friend and I are two people those of you who are so inclined to submit yourself to the merchandising mayhem on Friday......will not have to deal with. I'm thinking that day sounds like a good day to go play frisbee, and check out the Zilker Park Christmas lights. A safe and happy Thanksgiving to all!

  • Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

I too am not a fan of "Black Friday", I have never participated nor do I forsee it in my future. Saving a couple bucks is not worth having my post-Thanksgiving & Christmas spirit squashed!
