The Victoria County Commissioners Court became the 8th local community organization to pass a resolution in favor of Texas A&M replacing the University of Houston system in Victoria. The City of Victoria, Chamber of Commerce, The 2011 Minority Business Council, Builders Organizations, and even the Texas Exes, among others, are also supporting the change.

Commissioner Gary Burns, who has worked for years to establish a destination university in Victoria, was quoted in the Victoria Advocate regarding the proposed change from UH to A&M. "My main loyalty is to Victoria County, not to any particular higher education system," he said. More and more individuals and community organizations are joining the list of those supporting Texas A&M University – Victoria.
