The recent snow storm in Washington seems to have brought out the nut bags and clowns mocking science and research. A consensus of scientific data supports the fact that the ferocious storms are consistent with forecasts that a heating planet will produce far more intense and ever more frequent abnormal weather events.

Climate change experts just predict weather patterns, they don’t have any skin in the game as to how the weather behaves. The mocking attitude towards science by Limbaugh, Beck, Drudge, et al speaks volumes about how they substitute opinion for fact. Government and academic studies had consistently predicted an increasing frequency of just these kinds of record-setting storms because warmer air carries more moisture.

All the scientists agree on one thing, and that’s that no single weather event can be attributed to global climate change. That said however, the recent drought and ensuing monsoon-like weather we are experiencing here in our area should be a warning that our climate is changing. The weather extremes of this past year have been brutal for everyone involved in agriculture and livestock in the Victoria area.

A federal government report that was issued last year actually predicted that there would be more frequent snowstorms in the Northeast and less frequent snow in the South and Southeast due to long-term temperature and precipitation patterns.
