Image My stomach turned as I listened to Scott Roeder, without remorse, graphically explain how he planned and then murdered Doctor George Tiller in the foyer of a Kansas church. How many other born-again Christians are there out there with such hate in their hearts and malice on their minds? Roeder said that he had a religious conversion experience while watching the "700 Club" on television in 1992. He began conducting "sidewalk counseling" with women outside the Kansas clinic to persuade them to seek an alternative to abortion.

Knowing some people right here in Victoria with similar views to Roeder, I wonder if we won't see a similar dispaly some day here in our own community. From reading the public comments in here from time to time I wonder when a tragedy such as this might play itself out in Victoria. More and more it seems religion feeds a monster in people and emboldens them to commit crimes in the name of their saviour. It appears Roeder's extreme anti-abortion views did not raise any red flags in his Kansas community. Christian or Muslim, people with extreme religious views should be reported to the authorities. These people need to be watched and monitored, just as any person with a terrorist potential should be watched.
