I must have missed something, I did not hear him say anything about actually allowing drilling. All I heard was the President saying he was opening areas open up for leases for exploration. Exploration is different from actual removal of the product. I have heard this song and dance routine and the watched the pony show before about the United States becoming energy independent. The Carter Administration promised we would be energy independent in seven years. That was over 30 years ago. Maybe things will be different this time and history will not repeat itself.
With the increasing viability of shale gas from our local Eagle Ford area, it and other shale plays, is going to balance the nation's climate and energy security objectives. An industry campaign is needed to inform the American people and the Congress of the benefits of America's own secure, clean, plentiful resource. We are embarking on the move to the Natural Gas Century.
