One down and fifteen to go!

For this wellness contest that is, but also the first week of my journey for the rest of my healthier life.

This first week has been overwhelming just getting back into the groove of home and work and hoping to remember all the healthy tips provided to us by an amazing team. I am just full of emotion when I think of all the people, time, money, support and dedication that is invested in helping ME have a better quality of life! To know that at any time of need, not only do I have the support and can reach out to my family and friends but also to the superior team of H-E-B staff, dietitians, nutritionists, fitness and wellness coaches. A true blessing and I will ever be indebted to you all.

Well with that said, I did use all the great tools given and applied them on my new eating and exercise plan and it has paid off. I have lost 9 lbs after week one. My weight was averaging about 350 lbs give or take a few. As of June 1st I started working out my muscles because I didn’t know what to expect in our fit camp and ended up losing 7 lbs, so that gave me a starting weight of 343 lbs for my initial weigh-in. Which brings my weight down to 334 lbs as of today. My exercise consists of a 30 minute to 1 hour of cardio and/or strength workout each day. So today I will be treating myself to a massage! )

I do have to say that when I talk with people and share my experience, some get turned off because they say, “Oh another diet”, and I now my reply is, “No, it’s not a diet, its wellness plan to give me a healthier and better quality of life”. And that is a true statement, because even though we are more conscious of what we are eating, I am eating more throughout the day than I ever did. I have learned to make sure I am content all day with meals and snacks but also staying within my goal intake, so that I don’t feel starved nor over eat.

I look forward in achieving my goal weight and maintaining it from here on out. Together we can inspire one another and we have to remember that we are not alone in this journey. We have to reach out and get that “high-five” that we all need to motivate us. Please do not hesitate to contact me if there is any thing I can help with. There will be bumps in the road but nothing we can not conquer.
