Today, Saturday, Jan. 23, looks like a good day to get out and take advantage of some nonprofit events going on in Victoria. If you get to the library before noon, you'll find some great bargains on the last day of the Friends of the Victoria Library semi-annual book sale. Prices are slashed during these last few hours of the sale.

At Victoria Mall, Children's Discovery Museum is holding its 10th annual Kids' Discovery Fest starting at 11 a.m. with the Parade of Schools. There are lots of activities planned for the kiddos until 6 p.m.

At the same time, members of the Junior League of Victoria are at the mall collecting donations of gently used prom dresses and other formal wear for Project Cinderella. Help if you can.

We continue to accept nonprofit organization's information to be featured in our Helping Hands series that prints on Saturdays.

To find out how to take part, call me at 361-580-6585 or e-mail slong@vicad.com.
