Buy a bowl

On Sunday you can help some great local causes by simply buying a bowl and breaking some bread.

Victoria College will have its 7th annual Empty Bowls Project in the Student Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Victoria College art students and area potters have made about 500 bowls -- some heart-shaped for Valentines' Day -- and they are available for $15. That includes soup, bread and drink donated by the area restaurants and caterers.

Proceeds benefit Christ's Kitchen, Food Bank of the Golden Crescent, Victoria Christian Assistance Ministry, the Victoria County Senior Citizens Center and the Victoria College Empty Bowls Visual Arts Scholarship.

So get out Sunday, but a bowl, break some bread and help a cause.
