ATTENTION! THIS IS A MUST READ!

Homes for Heroes has a new association with ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition (EMHE) and they need our help. To start with we need to locate a family for the February 2010 episode so there is extreme urgency. For the February episode they are looking for someone in the Texas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama or South Carolina areas. I feel Victoria can set the bar and represent our city and Homes for Heroes on a such a scale as to make the rest of the world take notice as to how we love and support our Heroes. Our Homes for Heroes and Friends of Heroes network is a strong shining example of our admiration for our Heroes. With nearly fifty local businesses as proud Friends of Heroes we are set to show the world our Hero pride. First things first though, we need to find our Hero...that is where your help comes in

Please reach out to your community to help us find the right family. If you are an Extreme Makeover Home Edition viewer then you know that they have been focusing on Heroes. Think about someone who is needy and deserving but whose own home is in urgent need of repair and they are financially unable to repair it.

Here are some of the criteria:

1. The applicant must own their home and have deed or title to it.

2. There must be an urgent need for the makeover.

3. The applicant's home should not be a nice or newer home (remember, they tear them down) and home should have serious issues.

4. Any extra story of deserving in an interesting way would be a nice additional element.

5. This is not necessary but it's always nice if there are children in the family.

As you all have come to realize… our true Heroes in need are often humble and won't ask for help. Please obtain as much information as possible and forward it to us immediately. Time is of the essence!

Find us deserving Military (active and retired), Firefighters, Police Officers, EMTs, Teachers or Health-care Workers (or any deserving person in the community who is always doing for others) and we will submit the information to our contact at Extreme Makeover Home Edition. In addition to being the person who brought the hero's story to light, you could potentially be a part of the program, along with your network of connections in the community, to be helpers in the construction.

If we are successful in locating a deserving person or family for the show then we will want to work with our Friends of Heroes and the community to assist in the process of building the new home. Because of the association with EMHE, should we not make the February episode, there is strong potential for an upcoming show should we find the deserving Hero. However, I believe with the help of our already supporting community we can find the hero and bring EMHE to the Crossroads in February to help the deserving Hero.

So lets get to work! Find that Hero and get us their story, please provide as much information and contact details as possible.
