As a foodie, I often wonder what if I had some places to eat that I have run into around the country or that have closed in the past. Of course, I know one thing that would happen, and well that is expanded quite enough thank you. So for this post, I am going to expand on that ago old saying here in Victoria. "I wish Victoria had a...".
I know a majority of what people wish they had here. Some would say Outback, Cracker Barrel, maybe a Saltgrass or a Hooters. I could go on and on. Instead, I am going to take a trip down a less beaten path. Here are the top 5 places I really wish we had.
Number 5: Legal Sea Foods
If you have been in the northeast, you have to have eaten at this staple. Yes, the price is quite high, but ohhhhh is it worth it. While it may not have been the best fish I have ever had (though very close), it host the best and tastiest hush puppies.
Number 4: CiCi's Pizza
Yes you get what you pay for here, but I still have this place as a guilty pleasure. All I have to say is BBQ Pizza, and you have me at the B. That and come on, its only $5.
Number 3: Corn Dog 7
A blast from the past, and in most locations that have closed, people have a moment of silence at the moment the name is mentioned. In fact a facebook group is dedicated to this wonderful place that you could find in the mall. You could order your Corn Dog, then watch them dip it in the batter and fry it. It is sad that a whole generation of Victorians will miss out on Corn Dog 7. The good news is, that they still exist. When I lived in Alexandria, LA they had one in the mall. It became a must stop for me....well as often as I could.
Number 2: Five Guys Burgers and Fries
All I have to say is AMAZING. One of the best burgers and fries you could ever eat. A must stop when driving through Houston. Why not have one here? We all love our burgers right?
Number 1: Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers
There is something to be said for a place that can become a sensation that only makes one main item....Chicken fingers. These are not like a lot of the fast food places here. These are fresh, not frozen. You can order a variety of amounts of chicken fingers, or even a chicken finger sandwich. Of course, you will not find any other item on the menu. You have four options: The 3 Finger-3 fingers, fries, 1 cane sauce, toast and drink The Box- 4 fingers, fries, slaw, sauce, toast and drink The Caniac-6 fingers, extra fries, slaw, 2 sauces, toast and drink The Sandwich- 3 fingers on a kaiser roll, canes sauce, lettuce, fries and a drink They also have 2 kids menu options (2 strips and 1 strip)
Their fries are fairly standard, the sauce is amazing, and they also have lemonade on the menu that beats any other that I have had. This place has a strong commitment to quality and it shows in their quality statement
So in the end, that is just my opinion. If you are looking for an investment opportunity, I highly recommend seeing if these are franchising. I doubt we will ever see Legal, but one could only hope. The rest, well you never know.
