Did you the Nutcracker was playing?

My son, almost three years old, starred as a mouse in the battle scene. The place was packed, standing room only. The Children's House is a really good little day care/school. We have been so pleased with it. They value books, in fact, I don't know if they have a TV. It reminded me of another school that our older two kids went to in San Antonio called The Suburban School. Our kids loved it there and I see our youngest really enjoying The Children's House.

We are ending the first week of Advent. This is a time preparation for the Lord’s birth. Ok, one thing that irks me is Christmas music during Advent. The season of Christmas starts, well on Christmas. Some Advent songs include: “All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence,” “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” “Celestial Word, to this our earth” (sixth century), “O Come Redeemer of the Earth” (St. Ambrose of Milan). These four weeks prior are the time we remember what happened just before Him laying in a manger. The Annunication, Vistitation to Elizabeth (remember how John leaped in his mother’s womb), the Holy Family travelling to Bethlehem are many of the events to meditate on this season as well as the Lord’s return.

Growling Argus

I am really liking Cub Scouts for my son. He came home from his den meeting and began looking for “good deeds” to do for his family. That had to be something he thought of on his own. He offered to do dishes, read to his younger brother, and say his prayers. I was never able to do scouts, but I have seen the tremendous value in the first very few meetings so far and have some friends that were scouts and I think they enjoyed it, learned much, and were given skills that enabled them to be more self-reliant like building safe camp sites to understanding people better.

Which is part of the reason for the “Bring Your Boots.”

Old saying

“Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.” However, it is a good thing to count the chicken eggs, I would be upset if I bought a dozen that only had 8 eggs in the carton. By the way, from what I have seen of some chickens, there are some times you shouldn’t even count them.

Don Jose

I was sad to hear of one of my favorite Mexican food eateries had a fire. I hope everything works out and you can re-open with new determination.
