Ok, you have to download the Harvard Business Review app for iPhone. It is a couple of bucks, but well worth it. A recent entry discussed treating people as cogs in a machine. Is this still a real issue?

Sure, you can treat people horribly, but I doubt you will receive a “Wow” performance from them. What are some things that would convince you that your boss really considers you a person? How would you know that you are not just another number on file? Business 101 says that a company should “maximize shareholder value.” Should this trump how you treat employees? If it does, do you think your employees will treat the customer better? If it shouldn’t trump the employee, how do you stay competitive?
