I’ve had a long hiatus, and it’s time to continue this blog. By “continue” I mean “maintain without interruption, or to resume an activity after interruption,” so the American Heritage Dictionary provides.

From that root word, we have “continual” and “continuous.” Both words mean something entirely different and are often confused.

Continual (adjective) and Continually (adverb) mean the action has intermittent cessations.

Continuous (adjective) and Continuously (adverb) mean uninterrupted (continuing) action or motion.

Get it? Got it. Good!
