A Pastor in Phoenix, Arizona proudly claims he prays for President Obama's death! I'll have this man know that while I did not vote for this man and I oppose his politics bitterly, HE IS MY PRESIDENT!

Phoenix pastor who prays for Obama’s death faces flak September 1st, 2009 - 12:51 pm ICT by ANI - Washington, Sep. 1 (ANI): Protestors have started voicing their opposition outside the congregation of a Phoenix-based pastor, who tells his parishioners that he prays for President Obama’s death.

Phoenix-based Pastor Steven Anderson attracted widespread attention after he delivered a sermon titled, “Why I Hate Barack Obama,” and encouraged his parishioners to join him in praying for the president’s death.

“I hope that God strikes Barack Obama with brain cancer so he can die like Ted Kennedy and I hope it happens today,” Fox News quoted him, as saying.

He called his message “spiritual warfare” and said he does not condone killing.

However, some protesters gathered around his church on Sunday, calling Anderson’s words “incomprehensible.”

According to the report, Anderson has also received some death threats.

Anderson’s provocative message stems from Obama’s abortion-rights stance.

In his controversial sermon, delivered at his Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe before Obama arrived for a speech in Phoenix earlier in the month, the pastor had said he wants the president to “melt like a snail” with salt on it.

“I’m gonna pray that he dies and goes to hell when I go to bed tonight. That’s what I’m gonna pray,” he told his congregation.

The last time fierce opposition to Obama’s abortion position drew widespread attention was when Obama delivered the commencement address at the University of Notre Dame, the report said.

The Anderson sermon was also in news after it was reported that one man carrying an assault rifle outside the Phoenix arena where Obama spoke was a member of Anderson’s church, the report added. (ANI)

There is not one scripture in the bible that supports such blasphemy! I have done "Spiritual Warfare" many times and do still on a daily basis and at no time have I ever done such a sick, and monsterous thing! I would say to Pastor Anderson that he needs to look in the mirror and say in a loud voice, "Get thee behind me Satan, in Jesus' name!

Barak Obama would not be president if the Lord God did not allow it! King David refused to kill King Saul twice but refused! Pastor Anderson, "Touch not God's annointed!"

Heavenly Father, I ask for a hedge of protection around my president and his family! Watch over him, protect him and touch his heart in Jesus' name, Amen!

  • How about us all making a conscious effort to not put any more 's where they don't belong? Zorro, I'm not singling you out, just the practice. The way the public insists on putting a needless ' between the y and s in "more Timothy McVey's out there" totally make my guts do flip flops (and probably for some English teachers too). "more of Timothy McVey's CRAZY IDEAS out there too" shows something which belongs to TM. I've already been harping on this lately so this isn't the first time in the last week.

  • There seems to be a growing army of nutbags who are willing to say and do more and more outrageous political acts. The people with these antisocial view points need to be watched because there are Timothy McVey's in our mist.

  • Catahula, excuse me but the United States was not founded on Christianity! Have you ever read the Treaty of Tripoli?

  • salazaa: "Our Christian President" Where did you get that idea?

    September 4, 2009 at 8:42 p.m.

  • I wonder how many sermons have there been asking people to pray for the death of any President. Bet it has happen with almost ever President.

Thank God, most people in the United States think for themselves. If this were a Middle East Muslim religious leader I would be more concern.

  • Ken...don't worry about some nut praying for BO's death. It ain't gonna happen -- not as a result of prayer, anyway. As long as he doesn't do anything to bring about BO's death, he has the right to be an idiot. Some peole don't mind being stupid in public and this "preacher" is one of them.

  • J..." I never said anything about suing the President."

Sure you did, J. I was the one who posted a reply that you couldn't do that. I told you that treason wasn't a civil court matter and you couldn't file a civil lawsuit against him for treason.

  • Ok I more than disagree! The man is flat out wrong! But you never answered if you would be upset if one of the liberals (jeri wright, sharpton, or Jackson) so called clergy prayed the same prayer for your enemies. Rev. Peterson,Walter Williams, etc.

    September 3, 2009 at 5:11 p.m.

  • It is never right to pray for the death of those whom one considers to be one's enemies. Anderson is most visible example of the current crop of no-nothing, radical, racist, libertarian types who still bemoan the reality that folks other than white property owning males who are members of your local fundy church and over the age of 21 can now vote.

    He's a whiney little punk.

  • I don't agree with the pastor's prayers, but I wonder what Big J would say if this same prayer was prayed for George Bush, Sarah Palin,The Honorable Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, Clarence Thomas, Dick Cheney, Walter Williams, or Newt Gingrich. I imagine he would then proclaim the pastors right to free speech.

    September 3, 2009 at 10:18 a.m.

  • Kenneth,
I am sorry, I never did say I agree. No matter the mans politics and how we question them. The man does not deserve to be killed or prayed to be killed. That is just wrong.

  • BigJ there you go again using code words for hating white women.....the mink coat mob. Everyone this is code for conservative white women who have money and wear mink coats and gasp them caused problems in Dallas in the 60's.

So once again racial profiling and hatred against women is used. This is done multiple times a week. Gender bias and race bias.

I will say again since words are not comprehended quickly by some.

A woman of any race would be a fool to wear a mink coat in south Texas with our hot weather. If she does, it for pure vanity. We just don't get that cold. Calling a commenter a racial and gender biased term coming from a Dallas setting rains on dead ears except for the fact of the gross redundancy that is used instead of every having a logical conversation.

The antagonistic methods you use are against user policy --constantly. You need to read the bed time story again. Lesson not learned.

  • That's the blog you wrote after you made the comment, " I am going to sue GWB for treason" and you where informed that you could not do that.

I am not going to go look it up, because for one, it's probably not there anymore, and two, you will claim it was out of context.

Believe what you want Big, keep on keeping on, it is entertaining.

    September 2, 2009 at 9 p.m.

  • Exactly what I mentioned Big J.

Can I ask you a honest question?

Why is it that JFK is so sainted?

What did he do in his presidency to achieve that honor?

He did bring America to the brink of Nuclear War, the closest it has every been on the Dooms Day clock, thank God that Brezhnev blinked and understood it wasn't worth it.

He did escalate the Vietnam War, Believe what you want but Vietnam was a war started by democrats, look up the 1968 democratic convention. And a Republican ended the war, unpopular as he was.

Civil rights legislation was no where on JFK s agenda, that was one reason for the animosity between JFK and LBJ.

LBJ, one of the most crooked politician to every win a office, but yet the Civil Rights Act was his idea, not JFK s.

It still amazes me that JFK is held is such high regard by people of both political parties.

  • So many people acting like a bunch of rats in short pipe.
Our Christian President is protected by God from these evil rats.

    September 2, 2009 at 8:12 p.m.

  • I do not wish him dead just policy failure.

And, this is just what the left wished and JOKED about during Reagan and the Bushes. The left expressed death on Dick Cheney's heart. Liberal/Progressive talk show host wish Glenn Beck to keal over. Modern day sad politics. One side does it opens the door for the other to do it. Then they complain about the other side, yadayadayada.

  • Big J:
First I had never seen this ad. Shame on the cruelty of assuming I have mentioned treason when I have not.
Please please remember that Obama said to judge him by the people he surrounds himself with. So we are.

    1. Though Obama (And he should know he studied constitutional law), he is evading the constitution carefully. I have not been privy to all of his activities and cannot equate Obama with this item There are a lot of people asking questions because of his actions.
    2. I personally think that Obama is only starting to make decisions that affect the security of this nation. Again, unless we can find absolute evidence he is knowingly changing security laws so that Americans will be harmed. ..now the internal army has not risen to such heights….but it is in the exact footsteps of Hitler. So again people are questioning his actions.
    3. Communist Registration Laws –we do not have anything like that. So how can you use to say I think like that. Shame.
    4. Obama has been very careful in who he is publicly supporting. He won’t even choose a church—why not? If we judge by the company he keeps –his special advisors are lauding two communist countrys' controls. Why are they doing this? If we have communist owned media, our blogs and discourse will disappear.
    5. Obama has not invaded a state with federal troops. But ask yourself why he wants an internal army.
    6. I have not dissected the religion of all his appointments and the special advisors. This country was founded on Christianity like it or not. I do not believe one group of peoples has the right to strip our foundation away from that fact. We can respect each other but quit trying to change that history or beat me to death for what was done. That is when my love it or leave it come out. I say go start your own country. There are still islands for sale. Russia and the US were in a cold war at that time. Neither you nor I lived it. A lot of hate mongering went on that should not have. I only question religion when one allows their own perceptions creep into decisions for a nation and they are not best for the citizenry.
    7. We have found Obama to be a political Janus-face. But so have other politicians. What this should be is instead of taking every word and promise at face value, one should turn the rock over and question them.

There is my dissection. There is my answers. I am not the person that create that poster. Nor do I agree with all the contents. As for being put in the category that you did–shame on you. I never said treason. I may want the regime programs stopped long enough for answers. That is reasonable. Especially when each action is echoing communist and nazi regimes.

I am asking questions like he said to do. Would you let your daughter date a bomber? At least I would sign the five requirements for supporting our constitution without exceptions. You are either in or out.

    September 2, 2009 at 7:49 p.m.

  • Well BigJ, you yourself wanted to sue G.W. Bush for treason. Something a citizen can't do, just like whoever created the poster you linked to can't do.

    September 2, 2009 at 7:13 p.m.

  • BigJ,

This type of sermon should curl the toes of anyone from any side. Not JUST THE OTHER SIDE! People are becoming afraid of this man and it is not because of skin color.

Think back to the article the culture coach wrote about is it racism or bad behavior. This minister is absolutely behaving badly in more than one arena. He does not reflect the sole opinion of THE OTHER SIDE.

The truth is the President asked us to judge him by the company he keeps and his actions. So we are asking questions about the company he keeps including three bomber supporters as well as a few who do not support human rights (CA) and are asking questions. Since we are met with deafening silence, we are getting louder. His response is to create an internal army....

Now such actions may cause some to start to think vile and vicious thoughts. But millions of others just want questions answered and any activity stopped until the answers are given. We are all praying that change did not mean going to Nazism or socialism or Marxism or communism or another new coinage.

Instead, propoganda posters and other art are going to be created just like in the Communist and Nazi regimes. So look at the road we are on.

This minister is afraid of another Hitler with the death trains....You do know that Hitler used the fear to create the brown shirts and start training the children in school. So why is Obama calling the children next week?

I do not like the man's politics and the company the man keeps. It has nothing to do with the color of his skin. You may consider me the other side, but I have not wanted his death. That is wrong. Besides he would become a martyr for the replacement. Sorta like they are trying to do with the murdering Kennedy.
