Sitting here, bored tonight, I couldn't think of anything to write about so I went to google and typed in the search engine: "favorite things from 1991" for some reason this came up:

Cost of Living 1991

Yearly Inflation Rate USA4.25% Year End Close Dow Jones Industrial Average 3168 Interest Rates Year End Federal Reserve 6.50% Average Cost of new house $120,000.00 Average Income per year $29,430.00 Average Monthly Rent $495.00 Cost of a gallon of Gas $1.12 1 LB of Bacon $1.95 Dozen Eggs 85 cents

I'm most shocked by the bacon! who'd a thunk bacon would go from $1.95 to $6.38... Wow

  • A point I hadn't thought of pilot. But it seems true. Looking back years ago, when I was growing up, my mother ONLY bought a bag of Lays at the store once a month- and they had to last until they were GONE! Which didn't take long in a family of five. We made a trip to the grocery store twice a month. We didn't have to go because everything was canned and mom had it stored back for when she needed it. I'm talking she made EVERYTHING- jelly, "chow chow" (arkansas food) tomato sauce, you name it- SHE MADE IT. We had a garden, chicken, hog, fishing ponds, and everything else we needed at hand.
