On one of our few chilly nights I decided to get a fire going in the fireplace.  I told my six year old, who magically appears if I am holding a match or lighter, “Before electricity people didn’t have heaters and the fireplace was the only source of heat.  People would all gather around the fire to keep warm and many rooms in a house had a fireplace.” My six year old replied, “I bet they ate a lot of marshmallows!”

Then a few days later I got depressed and morphed into a couch potato.  Over a few nights I watched "Gone with the Wind" and "SCARLET."  My six year old watched some of Scarlet with me.  I asked him, “Would you rather have cars like we do now, or would you rather have horses and buggies to go where you need to go?”  And he looked at me like I was silly and said, “Cars.” I was shocked.  “Why would you rather have all these cars and paved roads instead of horses?” and he responded, “Because there are no seat belts on horses and you could fall off.”

I just had to share.
