I told you guys a few posts ago that my eight year old said he wanted to be God. He stated this while he was designing and building various structures using multi-color straws and masking tape. When I asked him why he wanted to be God he said that he would change the order of the colors of the rainbow and create little worlds with people that he could control. Here's that post.
Well, the other day (week?) we were building geometric structures out of gumdrops and toothpicks and my children decided to build three dimensional letters to spell out their names. This is really easy if your name is short or if your name is associated with a cool nickname.
My eight year old's name is "Christian" so you can imagine how long that project would have taken. We suggested that he shorten his name to "Chris." He became upset and said, "My name is not Christopher; it is Christian. My nickname is not Chris; it is CHRIST."
I just thought that was funny. He is having some problems with the children in our new hood and you might get an idea as to why. He's probably got some control issues as you can imagine. Telling your family that they should refer to you as Christ... =D

P.S. My favorite gumdrops are the black ones.

Love the pic.
November 18, 2009 at 8:22 a.m.I remember when I taught kindergarten on one of the first days of school, and I hadn't quite learned all of the names. The cute nametags I had worked hard to coordinate with my teaching themes had melted during restroom breaks. To get one particular child in line I said, "Time to get in line sweet pumpkin." To which he replied,"My name is Jason, not pumpkin."
November 18, 2009 at 8:21 a.m.Your children set the bar for others in their age groups. Christian isn't being blsaphemous, he's being himself.
"My name is not Christopher; it is Christian. My nickname is not Chris; it is CHRIST."
Now that was worth sending to Readers Digest!
My morning was brightened. I smiled, laughed, and I'm sure I felt God and Jesus do the same.(This feeling might last all day!)
