As of today, I have been married for eighteen years! I mean, "my hubby and I have been married for eighteen years today." Funny how I forgot about him just then.

I know what you are thinking, "What are you doing blogging on your eighteen year wedding anniversary?" -- No, the other thought, "Who would put up with YOU for that long!"

Isn't it crazy? There's someone out there who loves me even though I can't dance, spell, stay on topic, or keep a straight face during serious moments. There's someone out there who loves me even though I'm shy, opinionated, self absorbed, and moody. He's one tough guy. He knows CPR too!

He's literally out there filling up my car as I type.

For our anniversary I got up at 5:30am to get some girls off to a volleyball tournament, we both watched a volleyball game later in the morning, and we just got back from getting soaking wet on the soccer fields while our son played a soccer game. So, our anniversary thus far has been a family event.

I should be getting dressed for our evening at my favorite restaurant, Tokyo Grill. Well, not our whole evening. I'm sure he will want to hurry back home and check on his crops at Farmville and Farmtown.

Anyway, just had to brag about the one thing in my life that I've been able to hold together. It's probably really because of hubby but I can take credit because we are one, right?

Ok, gotta go, he's back.

=D

  • The real secret to a long and lasting marriage is putting up with a lot of karp and accepting your partner for who they really are and loving them anyway. Works both ways, and I can identify with us of the ADHD crowd. Never forget that behind that good man you married is a greater woman. He may be the head of the household, but you are the neck that can turn that head any ol' time you want. Congratulations and have fun at your silver and then your golden. My hub still owes me Beliz for the silver because a kid decided to get married that summer. The 30th is just around the corner.

  • Thanks guys. I forgot to mention that we shared an umbrella in the pouring rain but it didn't seem romantic at the time. And we decided that our "secret" is that we both put up with a lot of carp... Or is it karp... Not sure how to spell that. =D

  • CONGRATS! It's always so wonderful to see people who really make an effort to live a happily married life together. I hope one day I can find the same thing.
