How do you guys think Texas officials are handling the swine flu?

Is it good that schools are closing down, or is it not necessary?

Are officials overreacting? Under reacting?

I'm writing a pro/con story about how Texas officials are handling it. I'd like to know your thoughts. If you're willing to go on the record, e-mail me your responses, along with your name, and where you're from. jcavazos@vicad.com. You can also call me at 361-580-6535.

  • Far as I can tell, masks don't work unless in sterile environment anyway... we're using a lot of hand santizer and handwashing but the half-@$$ed info is causing a serious anxiety problem for all of interesting.

Man, I don't even want the regular flu.....

thanks for trying to lower the anxiety level... :-)

  • KIII.com - tv station in Corpus is pushing the fear button. Check out their front page story on the swineflu.

I work in Bee County and we're getting nervous down here - CDC affiliated dr says 4 probably cases here but we don't know what's going on until after it's confirmed. Meanwhile, I work at a college and we have people who come from the Valley and cross the border all the time. Hwy 59 is a pipeline from Laredo, people passing through could leave the virus anywhere in town.

Some places over react, some are under reacting because it would cause real operation problems stopping work/school right now with final exams on the way.

Bottom line? Not enough information at all, everything is after the fact, a day late and a dollar short.

Meanwhile, no one else has heard that Jim Wells county has cases of the flu - and we have a campus there AND staff go back and forth from that campus to this one every day.
