First I would like to commend the Victoria Advocate for their story about still supporting Theatre Victoria. It is nice to see that people are beginning to move on from the events of the past few weeks and focus on the upcoming shows and the future of theatre in Victoria.

HOWEVER, for those few people who still are complaining (honestly it is like a broken record here…can someone please give me a quarter for the jukebox so I can play something else)…

You can’t just mandate who can volunteer for an organization especially a non-profit. It would be wrong for anyone to tell a volunteer “oh I’m sorry you have volunteered to much please don’t come back”, it is just ludicrous for you to imply that the theatre should clean house of it’s volunteers.

I ask the people who seem so adamant at getting everyone out of the Theater and starting over

ARE YOU GOING TO GET OFF YOUR COMPLAINING COUCH AND VOLUNTEER? ARE YOU GOING TO BE AN ACTOR, OR SELL DRINKS, OR RUN LIGHTS, OR SWEEP THE STAGE? ARE YOU WILLING TO GIVE UP YOUR TIME AND MAKE A DIFFRENCE OR DO YOU JUST ENJOY SITTING BEHIND A COMPUTER ANONYMOUSLY COMPLAINING ABOUT THINGS BUT NOT WILLING TO GET UP AND ACTUALLY VOLUNTEER AND MAKE A DIFFRENCE?

It is easy for anyone to point fingers and blame but even rarer for the same complaining people to actually be willing to take time out, volunteer and try and remedy these things they love to moan about.

As for retiring old actors and having new people on the stage, the problem is there just aren’t enough actors and singers in Victoria. This is not a booming metropolis like Austin or Houston, it is pretty slim pickings and I know that they use new actors whenever possible but this being a small town the talent pool is lacking and contrary to what you might think you can’t just cast anyone that shows up to theatre auditions, there does need to be talent and a part for them.

Here is a tidbit for all you complainers that say you see the same people on stage all the time…most of the cast of the upcoming Fantastiks is made up of a new actors that the Victoria audience have either not seen before or actors that are seen very rarely, I might also add all of the cast auditioned for Moster, were cast by Moster and were willing to work with Moster. So don’t just lump all the volunteers on stage and off with the evil ones you say exist (which for the record no evil, plotting, robot, volunteers/staff/actors exist at the theatre) this cast in particular goes directly against everything you complain about.

So I would do some research before really running your preverbal fingers over a keyboard. I also challenge you to Volunteer and see what it is all about down at the theatre instead of sitting around being complacent and complaining.
