Public hearings for Victoria's proposed budget begin at 5 p.m., August 28, at the council chambers, 107 W. Juan Linn St.

According to information from the city, this budget will raise more total property taxes than last year’s budget by $191,879 or just over 1 percent. Of that amount $222,288 is tax revenue raised from new property values added to the tax roll this year.

Anyone who is interested in speaking about the budget at a hearing will have an opportunity to do so.

Hearings are scheduled for 5 p.m.,Tuesday, Aug. 28, Tuesday, Sept. 4, and Tuesday, Sept.18.
