Muses are what inspire us to create. Without them, our imagination would only have reality to play with. Reality is a muse unto itself that does its best to not relinquish it secrets. Our imagination, on the other hand, does its best to divulge everything and more.

Two extremely powerful forces vie for our affections daily. We wake up each day hoping to satisfy both in some way equally. We bed down each night with, at the least, a taste of the unresolved. Our struggles, day in and day out, resolve down to the smallest ratios our souls can easily digest. Our minds struggle at the helm and hope the waves will subside sufficiently for us to find a safe port or gentle beach. More often than not, the end of a day finds us adrift and without rudder.

Reality lends us few shoulders to lean on. Imagination dry-docks us in safety, whenever we need it the most.

Reality bloodies our noses whenever it satisfies its conveniences. Imagination heals our wounds better than any medicine, always.

Reality body slams us in the center of the ring without remorse because it knows nothing of ‘remorse’. Imagination smiles at and with us along with heavy portents of laughter and epiphany, eureka, and gleeful freedom.

Reality showers us in an eternal rain of seven deadly sins that we must forever fight against to preserve our individual humanity. Imagination conjures energies that dwarf the ‘seven deadliest’ and stretch our sails to the breaking point with bliss.

As you continue on from here throughout your day, keep your steel against reality sharp and your blade properly oriented. Keep your shield properly aligned and steadfast. Keep your thoughts close to imagination because that is the lesser evil. Reality will do its best to break you. Imagination will do its best to free you from the bonds of reality. When you lay down to sleep, reality will be wary of the battle. Imagination, on the other hand, will just be getting started.
