Image I live for music. From the moment the song starts I’m on a journey. I want to hear every note. For me the rest of life is all background. Music comes first. The way I regard music comes complete with idiosyncrasies. Solos and bridges, for that matter any sections of a song that stands out, get the fullest attention I can give. One pet peeve of mine is a disdain for conversation when I’m trying to listen to a great guitar solo or a captivating chorus. There are countless favorite songs that I’ve latched onto because of a great section or catchy composing. My mindset is one of deep respect for the musical creations of many artists.

I know full well that I’ve cloistered myself into a minority. The greater portion of the human race would rather carry on about this, that, or the other thing while a song they deem a favorite is playing in the background. The soundtrack of their lives may be full of music but how much do they really listen to? Their majority dictates social interaction and that beat behind it all has to look elsewhere for platitude.

Music still matters though. When you first fell in love, was there music playing then? What was the song? If that love crumbled away into regolith you might still remember the song. Love or hate of a song does nothing to diminish the memory of it. When a tune fits a moment in your life perfectly the moot point is whether the song is good or bad. Even when you push it far into the background it is still there. It remains a part of the cache that comprises that moment in your life.
