“I don’t remember turning the radio on but at least now there’s something else to listen to besides the drone of engine, tires and wind. That tune on right now is a cover of “Knocking on Heavens Door” that I’ve never heard before. I can’t explain the frequency that’s tuned in but I’m grateful for the disruption of the monotony.

“There was no voice-over from the first song into this one so I’m still waiting to hear the DJ. Hope he tells me what time it is, or at the least gives me an idea of where I might be. I don’t think anyone’s been on this highway for some time. There are a few light drifts of sand that spill across the road now and then and the asphalt is cracked but the ride is still quite smooth. The center line is a bit faded but Not to the point where the two lanes are undefined.

“What have we here? Finally, a landmark. Looks like a billboard. Slowing down a bit to read it. ‘Closer than you think. Tune and cruise. 66.6 FM. Hell Radio’. Hmm? Yeah. Right. That was a lot of help. I’d better get back up to speed. Wait. Maybe there’s something on the other side. Hey!
