Victoria Recreation Parks just opened a new "skate park" along with a new set of baseball feilds. I overheard that people with bikes were not allowed to be on the premises. How ridiculous could this be??? Corpus Christi recently opened a skate park downtown, and after many petitions, picketing, and fights with the department, FINALLY, they let bikers ride only on Thursdays. SCRATCH THAT. They let bikers ride with the skateboarders anytime they want!!!!
Victoria wants to find new "outlets" for our teens, yet, what about all the bikers in Victoria who get tickets for meerly trying to find somewhere to ride?? Is it going to take petitions and picketing for bikers to ride somewhere LEGAL?

Well, there could be a number of problems. That's the risk that Victoria Parks and Recreation take letting children and teens ride their skateparks with no supervision. I could give you about a hundred risks there are for let alone just skateboarders riding around.
March 24, 2009 at 2:22 p.m.As far as the bikers go, I see just the same amount of risk there is with or without bikers. Problem number one being, there are no age limits. I see thirty-seven year old grown men riding around with eight year old children out on the park. With NO supervision. Problem number two being there's so many hormonal teenagers who act like they have no manners. That leads to FIGHTS. I have yet to hear or see any of these, but there are a number of problems that have a possibility to arise.
It's just not fair to discriminate against teens or even children with bikes who want their fun out of the skatepark. What's wrong with that?
What kind of problems, if any, are there with bikers and skaters being mixed in a limited space?
