For the past three years I have kept an online journal, I have always written a post at the end of the year to take stock of what I have just been through.

It's the odometer effect I keep saying we have. It makes us keep our birthdates, anniverseries, it lets us think we can always start over if we just reset the clock within ourselves.

My wife is out of town, visting relatives, I had to work so I stayed behind and will be spending New Year's eve with a few friends.
Please don't feel sorry for me, this is just what I needed to take personal inventory and reset my own odometer for the year ahead.

I was in my favorite chinese restaurant today having the traditional last meal of the year I always used to have as a bachelor, thinking about things. Somewhere between the hot sour soup and the tang spicy tofu, I realized 2005 wasn't so bad at all.

For one, I got to try on a lot of new titles for myself.... Some I didn't like (Evacuee), others I'm getting used to (Husband), most are a nice suprise and I like very much (Stepfather, Blogger, Luchadore)

I'm ending the year with a great band, happy additions to my home, and good memories.
I was able to see the last of the Star Wars movies, the Johnny Cash biopic, and some killer bands. One of my heroes, Mark Linskey and his band the Hudson Falcons came on tour from New Jersey, and made a stop in Victoria just to play with our new band. That was a great feeling.

I feel lucky I have not had to attend a funeral this year like in the past. I know this will be rare, with the colorful people I have met over the years, and the relatives I have that seem to be getting older and more stubborn.

The blues is still played regularly in my house. On the odd night, you may see all 3 of us being silly in the kitchen or making a lot of racket in the living room.

So what's say we put this year to rest? With it's busy hurricane season, winter free Christmas, slow movie and music season, and politcal bumblers...
Hope you guys have a great new year...

And the odometer effect starts all over again...
