I have a confession to make. I'm a little in love with my cell phone. I like a portion of America, own an Iphone. I'm not writing this blog as a debate on if this is the phone for you... I'm not interested in Sprint's or Tmobile's new attempt at an awesome Iphone killer. I'm simply writing this as fact.

I love my phone because it's always with me. With my life in a band, writing for a popular video game website, and being an overall adventurer... I like having it a long when I do things to keep me involved in social media. Somewhere along the way.... my point and shoot camera I used to document everything exploded (long story don't ask) I began to use my iphone camera as a last resort. What happened was... the pictures weren't too bad. Actually on whatever trip I was at at the time, some of the pics came out better than my travel partner's point and shoot.

From that point on, the Iphone became my regular picture taking device. I also downloaded a few photo editing apps to my menu, and I became a regular little shooter out and about.

The thing about the iphone, is that it's a finicky camera. It's surely not the best camera or even cell phone camera out there. What makes it awesome, is that it never seems to take the same picture twice. It's almost like it has a mind of it's own and says "this picture I'm going to keep a little blurry on the left side" or "Because it's 2:38pm on a Thursday afternoon, I am going to really saturate the yellows on this shirt" It really happens. Almost like there is a ghost in the phone. I would wonder about it, except I have seen other's phone act simlilarly. It's not a big deal, not for a guy who like unusual things, the trick is, to just accept the little monster inside the camera using the controls. With the use of the photo editing apps, I was able to save some shots I have been really proud of, this is hard to do, because like I have said, even though the iphone is now the most easily owned camera in existence, it still pales in comparison to others. I'm not sure when I started to consider myself an iphone photgrapher. I don't know if I even consider myself one now. I just like the stuff I did. So when I heard about the 365 project, I decided my theme should be that all the pics would be done with an iphone... In no time I really began to see the world differently. Looking constantly for my next candid photo has become an interesting way of life.

I guess the weird thing came when my friend Mel asked me to show some of my pictures in an upcoming art show. I don't know if you consider my pictures art... I don't know what it is. I always thought it was an interesting way to show people where I've been... But an artist? I mean come on man, I know artists... I'm not nearly as cool as those guys. I'm just a dude who likes Chuck Berry, road trips and dark beer. What do I know about art? Well... that's a lie. A few things maybe. I began to realize this when I was looking for pictures to print. Ive had a hell of a year. And looking at these pictures and thinking of the stories behind them... made it worth it. So, in case you were wondering... I decided to go ahead and exhibit some pictures. The ones on this blog are a few that will be there Friday night. Image
