The record-breaking temperatures, the browning grass, that inexplicable urge for a dip in the pool – all effects of a sweltering South Texas summer.
But other hints at the summer heat – hairline cracks near windows, uneven floors and the like – can mean even larger issues at hand. Yes, hot, dry conditions lead to shifting ground, and that can lead to cracked home foundations.
I’m working on a story about just that.
I’ll be talking with foundation repair companies, homeowners, etc. to see just how extensive local foundation issues are, and how people can avoid problems in the future. A person’s home is often his largest investment, after all. And, according to the Foundation Repair Network, average damage comes in about $10,000 to $14,000.
The issue is affecting North Texas, too. Take a look at this story by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Anyway, if you or someone you know is battling foundation woes, I’d love to talk! Comment here, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call 361-580-6511.
Thanks so much – and stay cool out there!
