  • Not hard at all. Just have to go to a reputable site of a company that does non political motivated ratings like Nielsen Media Research. You don't get ratings from Fox, MSNBC, dailykos, mediamatters, moveon, and such.

  • Hello Sanwichh
You went to a lot of trouble showing the Nielsen ratings, but the primaries are in the last stages.
I was never comparing MSNBC ratings to Fox's ratings, but it does not matter to me. MSNBC is about 90% politics so when I get home to watch TV, I know they will be talking about politics. Now politics only appeal to small segment of the population. Because of this 15 month standoff between Hillary and Obama the networks are covering more.
What you seem to discount ,Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton did well without one single network(Fox), because if you take the ratings of CNN ,MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, CNBC, Ellen, Larry King,Tara Banks, the View, Today Show and Oprah the candidates got plenty of coverage without having to rely on Fox. Your rating show head-to-head, but not necessarily cumulative results of the viewing audience. The candidates were not hurting for votes because the Democrats have had record turnouts, a lot more than their Republican counterparts who have been helped out by Fox.
I think you are just trying to sell Fox….. You seem to forget this is a Democratic primary, so the viewers of Fox are not going to help that much.
Fox is a corporation, and they know this is supposed to be a Democratic year with large gains in the House and Senate, so having a Democratic boycott is not in their best interest, especially if a Democrat wins the White House. Always two ways of looking at it.
MSNBC is 19th in what category and what are the demographics. See Hillary and Obama appeared on that network for the audience (Dems)they were appealing to.If you look at the trends MSNBC is trending up and FOX is flat and it is because of the guest and the candidates.
As for news it's 5:30 slot ,free TV always beats cable because not everyone has cable, I have seen all the stats before, but my blog was not about ratings mainly the background for the spitting contest.
Anyway in closing this is what I was talking about.
Fox News ratings struggling to keep up

    2008-04-01 2:15pm PT

    Outtake:

Following up on an item from the other day, I thought it was worth noting that all three cable networks have seen their ratings go up during the presidential primaries, but among the “money demo,” Fox News is falling behind. (via TP)

The political season continues to be very good to CNN, which will officially announce on Tuesday that for the first time since 2001, it managed to beat the Fox News Channel in prime time for one quarter of the year in the category of news viewers most desirable to advertisers, according to Nielsen.

Thanks to its debate coverage and heavy focus on the presidential primaries, CNN’s ratings in prime time for viewers 25 to 54 were up 90 percent, to an average of 453,000 for the first quarter of 2008. That was enough to edge past the perennial leader, Fox, which had 438,000 viewers, up 12 percent from last year. MSNBC also had a strong quarter in prime time, growing 68 percent to 329,000 viewers. CNN has done especially well on the nights of contested primaries, winning every night in those ratings except one, the Florida primary on Jan. 29. That was the only night...

  • For the month of April.
Fox has 9 of the top 10 for April,..mmm
    MSNBC starts at, well, 19th.
That's probably why Hillary and Obama went on FOX, they wanted to talk to the majority of the people.
