Team of Rivals: The political genius of Abraham Lincoln ;a book authored by Kearns Goodwin is the model most say Barack Obama is using for installing his cabinet. The saying” Pay attention to your enemies, for they are the first to discover your mistakes” might be the objective. Pat Buchanan and Joe Scarborough said he was really showing his Christian side because this is the second time he has turned the other cheek. Barack Obama did not want Joe Lieberman stripped of his chairmanship, even thou Joe campaigned vigorously against him.

Barack Obama will probably nominate Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State after the Thanksgiving holidays. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are not that far off on their worldwide views, other than Hillary’s Iraq war vote and that controversial resolution to name the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization. Even thou Hillary is more hawkish than Obama, I think she will be an asset when it comes to solving the Israel and Palestine situation. This cabinet position will put her out of the 2012 presidential race. She can’t campaign or raise money while serving as the  Secretary of State. It also removes her from the senate, where she could have become a torn in Obama’s side.

Retired Marine General, James L. Jones is a leading contender for the head of NSA .Foreign affairs will be in good shape with Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton and Mr. Jones.A lot of work to do ,before everyone is on the same page.... Defense Secretary Robert Gates might stay for while if Obama assembles a good team to work with.......Pappy] Bush's National Security Advisor Brent Scowcroft is helping Barack Obama with the transition.

The Iraqi security agreement was translated yesterday, and they will be able to run their own security and open our troop’s mail, and arrest and put on trial the military and civilian contractors if they break Iraqi law.

The same crowd will say “that’s not change” but where else is Obama going to get cabinet members, other than the last successful Democratic presidents former staff. Clinton and Carter tried to bring a slew of fresh faces and it got them on the wrong footing. Obama is a student of history, and it is serving him well.

Want change? Business Week is reporting Barack Obama is likely to name Tim Geithner, president of the New York Federal reserve, as Treasury Secretary .When the news hit Wall Street;the market finished on an upbeat of 494 but those on the right only count the fall of the market due to Obama...Bill Richardson might be the Secretary of Commerce and Janet Napolitano (Governor of Arizona)might be the head of Homeland Security.

  • Hey Mike,
I need your help. I stay busy and I know you will be on top of things. Would you please let us know when Mr. Obama pushes through the tax cuts for the middle class and tax hikes on the evil rich people? If you have time, also let us know when he starts wielding that scalpel on the budget he talked about so much.

    Thanks!

  • Hillary as Sec. of State, hmmm..
I don't know about that, on the world stage what has she done?
Hillary spearheaded health care reform in hubby Bills first term and it didn't go anywhere. Health care is a big huge different topic that does need to be addressed.
Bill Clinton as a envoy? That's crazy talk. IMO he is just fine with Hillary riding his presidential coattails but that's about it.
But then again, excluding Hillary and Chealse , his opinion of women would fit in good with some middle east leaders.

  • Despite the incident 31 years ago,Ted Kennedy In April 2066 was selected by Time as one of "America's 10 Best Senators"; the magazine noted that he had "amassed a titanic record of legislation affecting the lives of virtually every man, woman and child in the country" and that "by the late 1990s, the liberal icon had become such a prodigious cross-aisle dealer that Republican leaders began pressuring party colleagues not to sponsor bills with him"
ON health care Mr. Kennedy this is from the USA Today.
Major health care legislation introduced or co-sponsored by Sen. Edward Kennedy that became law:
•1966— Helped create a network of neighborhood health centers through an amendment to the Economic Opportunity Act
•1986 — Employment Opportunities for Disabled Americans Act
    •1990— Americans with Disabilities Act
    •1992— Mammography Quality Standards Act
•1994— Family and Medical Leave Act
•1996— Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
•1997 — State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP)
So despite his moral lapses ,the senator is qualified to work on health care legislation.
Tom Daschle has written a book on health care that every company and health care provider is reading today. Daschle was first author on a book concerning health care coverage which was published on February 19, 2008, titled "Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis". One review stated "Daschle's book delineates the weaknesses of previous attempts at national health coverage, outlines the complex economic factors and medical issues affecting verage and sets forth plans for change

    Hate is not a solution.

  • Ted Kennedy and Daschle in charge of health care?  Thats the scariest thing I have ever heard.  Ted Kennedy should have been put in jail for at least murder 2 and more appropriately murder 1, and hes dying of brain cancer.

Condi Rice was a professor of political science at Stanford University when she was made head of NSA..Strictly a Bush crony with no experience and a reason she was not effective in that position leaving Cheney and Rumsfeld to run roughshod over her. Colin Powell and Richard Clarke said she was out of her elements…..Bush then made her Secretary of State where Hamas captured a popular majority in Palestinian elections yet supported Islamist militancy right under her nose…I thought she should have stayed in Iraq until a peace treaty was signed.....Unfortunately for her ,she belonged to an administration that did not want to negotiate. That’s what a Secretary of State does.
Hillary Clinton is well respected around the world; as for sticks and carrots; she has not been in position to use either. By serving on the Committee on Armed services and the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe her credentials are outstanding. Her conservative opponents say she is well qualified for the position.
BTW The Obama Administration is not going for window dressing;this country needs results.

I agree that she could continue to get re-elected, but health care is being turned over to Ted Kennedy and Tom Daschle……She will always be the junior senator from New York as long as Chuck Schumer remains…..She does not have the votes to be the senate leader(remember the super delegates)many were senators who served with her.
I can’t disagree about females not being heard by the Muslim culture but she is respected and trusted by Israel. Bill Clinton almost had a peace deal (95%) so dealing and convincing Israel that a treaty would be in their best interest…For example Syria wanting the Golan Heights as part of a peace treaty has been on the table for several years…..As Secretary of State she could employ Bill Clinton as her envoy…..Just another way at looking at it.

  • Condi wasn't SOS in 2001....I'm disappointed in you Ragman.  Hilary isn't diplomatic enough to be Secretary of State, she uses sticks too much.  She is like a mean mommy, I'm not sure how her Mommy Dearest routine is going to fly in the Middle East.

    November 22, 2008 at 8:14 a.m.

  • Yeah, and that Condi is a real beauty!  NOT! Madeline Albright did OK. She was no beauty queen either.
Rice was inefective and weak.  ( August 6, 2001)  "Bin Laden determined to strike in US."  She and her boss failed to heed this warning. She was just a yes-gal for Shrub.

    November 21, 2008 at 8:30 p.m.

  • She's no Condi Rice....she's has no tact & she's not even a pretty face....what was he thinking?

    November 21, 2008 at 7:57 p.m.

  • I am indeed shocked, I can not understand why Senator Clinton would give up the independence of being a Senator and a position that she could probably get re-elected in for as many terms as she wanted to serve.  How she is limited to a max of 8 years of service and must follow the will of  President Elect Obama.  Guess Senator Clinton desires to retire, except for speaking engagements in 4-8 years.
Sorry, I will never believe a female in the position of Secretary of State will be an asset in solving the Israel-Palestine conflict or any other Muslim culture.  We, are talking about a Muslim culture here, a culture that believes women are second class citizens, women should never oppose a male, and etc.  Do you really think Hamas leadership is going to set down and negotiate a peace with a female?
