  • Once again
The truth about Obama's birth certificate.
    Summary
In June, the Obama campaign released a digitally scanned image of his birth certificate to quell speculative charges that he might not be a natural-born citizen. But the image prompted more blog-based skepticism about the document's authenticity. And recently, author Jerome Corsi, whose book attacks Obama, said in a TV interview that the birth certificate the campaign has is "fake."

We beg to differ. FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate. We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship. Claims that the document lacks a raised seal or a signature are false. We have posted high-resolution photographs of the document as "supporting documents" to this article. Our conclusion: Obama was born in the U.S.A. just as he has always said.

    Analysis
Since we first wrote about Obama's birth certificate on June 16, speculation on his citizenship has continued apace. Some claim that Obama posted a fake birth certificate to his Web page. That charge leaped from the blogosphere to the mainstream media earlier this week when Jerome Corsi, author of a book attacking Obama, repeated the claim in an Aug. 15 interview with Steve Doocy on Fox News.

  • There are a great many people in the government that are totally incompetent.....otherwise we would not be in the mess we are in.  Forged documents could have been missed in obtaining a passport,,,,,If it is such a non-issue why is the DNC running scared?

    October 7, 2008 at 5:09 p.m.

  • Pat,Obam'a birth certificate is a non-issue
1)He had to give an authentic birth certificate to get a passport.
2)He was vetted by Secret Service for  a secret clearance, because he is the Democratic presidential nominee and a US senator.
Silly people seem to think the U.S. Government is totally incompetant.....lol

  • VietNamVet......take every question on your list and replace "Palin and McCain" with "Obama and Biden",,,,,,what answers have they given us?.....unless you call Obama's stupid comment in the last debate when asked if some of his programs might be have to be postponed due to financial constraints...."Perhaps, but I don't think we can delay my early childhood program recommendations."  This guy is an idiot...a socialist idiot with links to Socialist organizations and Arab support.

  • Pat.....the fact that the case is in the court and has not been settled is all the proof you need,  Your fact checking website has been taken to task recently on several issues where their "facts" were NOT factual.

Mikey.....it doesn't matter where the article came from .,,,,,,again,,,,,how slow do I have to talk for you people, the case is still in court and the fact is the DNC has thus far been unable to provide a birth certificate that can be proven valid.

  • Just a few observations and questions:
What does Palin have to say about the huge losses in the stock market and how she and McCain will address it?
What does Palin have to say about the 159,000 people who were laid off last month and how she and McCain will address it?
What does Palin have to say about McCain healthcare proposal to tax employer provided health benefits and force millions into the private healthcare marketplace while adding another $7,000 in private market healthcare insurance costs to the American family?
What does Palin have to say about improving regulation and oversight on Wall St. to bring back investor confidence in the markets?
What does Palin have to say about improving Social Security and planning for its long term stability?
What does Palin have to say about making college more affordable for the middle class?
Why does Palin who claims to be an "average middle class hockey mom", refuse to address the issues that matter to the average middle class person?
Why can't Palin explain why McCain/Palin policies are just like Bush's but will somehow work for them after 8 years of failure with Bush?
I certainly hope McCain/Palin don't think Americans are stupid and gullible enough to believe a lot of this drivel that is being rehashed.  But on the other hand I can see how easily some people's brains are turned to mush because some people can't think for themselves.

  • Nah, southtex, Mike ain't gonna delete your comments. Some nameless bloggers do that, but not Mike He is too much a guy for that kinda behavior. Besides, he needs somebody to squabble with, or its no fun.
If pot smoking is an automatic "out" on the Presidency, neither Clinton of GWH would have made the cut. Next.
I don't like Obama's rhetoric on subjects such as expansion of government sponsored health care, his lack of experience in either business or government leadership, and the I believe the "change" he is advocating cuts to larger, more expensive federal government.
Just as I detest the current Bush Doctrine of selling out for a meaningless wars funding, while allowing  and sponsoring run away expansion of domestic spending and government intrusion. His experience was that of the weakest Governor in the US, and his performance is, unfortunately, what I expected. I give him credit for excellent command directly after 9/11, and keeping the economy floating in its aftermath. But by the end of 2002, he was done doing good work.
McCain? I applaud his maverick stance of the past. I don't think he is Bush. At least I hope. I have appreciated his honesty in the past, but his time may have passed. And politicaly, he is closer to Obama than most think. He is not a Reagan, and the old true conservatives know it. His pick of Palin was an attempt to draw in that old conservative base that has been lost. Will it work?
The Biden pick was an attempt to address the "experience" weakness of Obama, and be a compromise to Hillary supporters. Will it work?
November 4 or so, we will all know.
No undecided folks in this group, so what are we doing? Making ourselves feel better about our choices? lol

  • Southtexas:
Did you even go to factcheck.org and LOOK at the document? No, you did not! I doubt that they would say that they have examined it and photographed it if they hadn't. It would just be too easy to discredit. Go ahead and believe what you want. Ignorance is bliss, I guess. There are those of us who do research things looking for answers. Then there are those who just believe anything sent in a Republican email.

    October 6, 2008 at 9:46 p.m.

  • And Pat, if you read the article you will note that it is not one of us damn nasty Republicans who is questioning....it is a Democrat.  And no, I did not get an e-mail.....this is something mentioned on CNN which I researched.

    October 6, 2008 at 9:44 p.m.

  • Pat:
The authenticity of the internet certificate has not been proven.....and the fact that the DNC is now involved in this suit would tend to make one believe that the question of the birth certifiate being fake is a valid one....otherwise, why not just provide the certificate?  The DNC is trying to have the suit dismissed on the grounds that the citizen who has questioned the certificate would not be harmed should the certificate be a forgery.....WHAT???? So Obama is not a citizen and that is not harmful to every citizen in the U.S.?  Rather faulty reasoning don't you agree..

There is a copy of the original birth certificate (front and back) posted for everyone to see, but there is really nothing more dangerous to America than a radical Republican who spews lies and hatred. southtexas, you have lost every ounce of respect that I ever had for you and you probably don't care; however, you tell us that you are not getting these ultra-rightwing emails about Obama and then you quote them here. My brother-in-law forwards every  one of these pieces of trash to me thinking, I guess, that I will become a Republican like the rest of the family. All it does is make me research and prove him wrong and at that point, I get to reply back to everyone on his stupid Republican email list with the truth. Why don't you just not embarrass yourself in the future and check this stuff out before you post it?

  • That ad was run in a Dallas Newspaper before JFK's visit in November, 1963. Funny thing hate. It brings out the worst in people and the nut jobs!

    October 6, 2008 at 9:04 p.m.

  • Sorry Big J....The analogy doesn't hold water.  The JFK thing is wacko.

If you would take the time to research your candidate....really research, you might be surprised of the rats in the rafters.  To use one of Mikey's favorite phrases....."Drink the Kool-Aid Big J......hopefully the death will not be painful.

  • My bad Bighorn!!!!

I am sure that Mikey will delete my posts....God forbid someone should ask questions that might make Obama worshipers uncomfortable.

    October 6, 2008 at 7:57 p.m.

  • AND SPEAKING OF "NEGATIVE ADS"........

These are questions I have always wondered about....

What is a negative ad?  Why is a "negative ad" in a political campaign bad?

Why.....when we are electing someone to a position of leadership, a part of which must be the possession of good judgement, common sense, adherence to American ideals and patriotism.......is it a bad thing to bring up some act or occurrence in that person's life which might show that he does not have these traits that are required?

Dragging up pot smoking in college....a DUI or Public Intoxication incident when an individual was young and stupid.....that is not relevant.

However, considering the mores, ideals, and concepts that a person has been taught throughout his life.......
Questioning alliances and friendly relationships with those who are enemies of our country.....
Pointing out changes in position or out and out lies related to the person's actions and alliances....

These are not "negative ads"......these are probes for the truth.

The leaders of our country must be held accountable not only for their experience and abilities but for their character and beliefs and love of America.  If what we learn is negative....how can that be considred a bad thing....it is a thing that voters need to be aware of.

    October 6, 2008 at 7:53 p.m.

  • southtex: Quit it! This was supposed to be an Obama love fest.
    Man, you're ruining the party........

    October 6, 2008 at 7:39 p.m.

  • It's about time!!!  When a dangerous radical who the voter actually knows very little about is running for President...playing nice nice has to come to an end.  The Republicans have been afraid to ask the REAL questions because, OMG they might be accused of being racist...but there are some issues and facts that need to be brought up and some questions that need to be asked no matter what color the person is.  White guilt be damned.

Obama has been surrounded throughout his life with Islamic, Communist and Socialistic Influences....starting with his mother and going through his connections in college to the present

And speaking of college what about Obama's college days....according to him he had no friends or associations and those that have investigated have ran into some very unfriendly walls.....undoubtedly he is not proud of his college connections, and we have let that slide?

And speaking of College, how did he get in Columbia and Harvard?  Could some convenient Arab connections have something to do with his acceptance?

And his job as "Community Organizer".....there are some who feel this position was little more than a "Socialist Organizer"...aimed at voter fraud and political undertable activities.  Something to be said for Obama being the # 2 recepient of donations from Fannie and Freddie....why do you suppose that might happen.,,,,,,and then Acorn....Obama involved in this entitiy big time to the point of hiring members of this very shady organization for big time money to help his campaign.

Thank God.,....it's about time people started speaking the truth, and asking the right questions.  Where is his birth certificate; he has yet to provide a true and legal copy and the case is still in court at this time....he may very well not even be an American Citizen....And Mikey.....sorry, that is not conservative email gossip....the caae is being fought and the DNC is supporting the fight.....if there isn't a problem with his birth certificate, why can't a copy be provided?

And then there is the copy of his thesis.....somehow a copy cannot be found,.  Michelle finally coughed her racist writings up.  Obama or the college cannot provide this writing....strange....strange like all of his college friends disappearing and his Pakistani roomate in college just kinda disappearing into thin air.

If you think we are in a crisis situation now....think again...elect Obama and see where we go.  Be scared my friends....be very very scared.

  • Don't leave out reformers....lol
I saw where Bob Woodward is holding on to a classified secret about the "Surge"....Bob told(hinted at) Bill Maher that the reason for the drop in violence was because of a highly classified action we took; not the surge......I took it to mean we might have eased dropped the PM of Iraq's calls or indiscriminately killed some leaders Shia & Sunni...Don't know, have you heard anything?

  • I admired John McCain and I was angered at the way he was trashed during that S. C. primary.
Without any prompting he admitted he lied for personal gain....That took guts.
The protesters were against McCain's call in April 2000 (after the primary) for the flag to be removed from the top of the statehouse -- even though he sidestepped the question during his primary battle with George W. Bush. At the time, he said not taking the stance during the campaign was a "sacrifice of principle for personal ambition."

SO, Pat, are we all Afghanis today? LOL.

    October 6, 2008 at 5:16 p.m.

  • It is strange, but in an interview with McCain when he was running against the presidunce he said (paraphrasing) that negative ads were an act of desperate people with no real ideas.

    October 6, 2008 at 5:08 p.m.

  • I saw that speech Pat,it was a classic all hat and no cattle..To think people woke up for that...
I saw prominent conservative columnist Kathleen Parker stand up to the criticism she has been getting for saying that Sarah Palin is not qualified to be VP Sunday on CNN...She flatly said Governor Palin is out of her league.

    October 6, 2008 at 4:25 p.m.

  • I'll bet y'all didn't know we're neighbors of Afganistan, did you? They're just running soooo scared right now. I watched her live rally in Florida this morning and I'm thinking the only thing I heard her say differently was "the high heels are on and the gloves are off". Does anybody but me think that would sound better turned around?

    October 6, 2008 at 3:50 p.m.

  • Good story Vet...I see where McCain does not want to play,he wants to take his ball and go home...He is bringing in lawyers to fight the Keating smears...LOL
