As I reflect on 2008, I can say we had a great year:
Blacks are happy; Obama was elected.
Whites are happy, OJ is in jail.
Democrats are happy; George Bush is leaving office.
Republicans are happy: Democrats will finally quit saying George Bush stole the 2000 election. And all of us are happy; The election is finally over!
Things may change for Mr. Obama. I hear his mother-in-law is moving into the Whitehouse with them. Can you imagine? Added to dealing with all the problems he has promised to solve M-I-L living with him.
I really have backed off since the election,my fellow democrats have all left and I really don't want to rehash those same old divisive politics of old.....Our country is in an economic meltdown and should of ,could of ,would have, is not going to get us out of this situation. The 7.2% unemployment should be a wakeup call that we need to discontinue the bad things we were doing,come up with a bipartisan solution and move on. This year I hope I can continue to ignore those that want to continue fighting yesterday's battles with yesterday's rhetoric without any solutions. I hear you maryann,in fact that is the one thing that was constant int he last election;people are tired of the bickering ,they want solutions or ideas.
I really thought that politics would simmer down with the election of Obama, but it just keeps winding up. Shows how naive I am about politics. Mike, do you really enjoy following this stuff? :-} Ain't it deepressing? And I mean all of it, not just the Reps. or the Dems.

Scandals include Whitewater - Travelgate Gennifer Flowersgate - Filegate - Vince Fostergate - Whitewater Billing Recordsgate - Paula Jonesgate- Lincoln Bedroomgate - Donations from Convicted Drug and Weapons Dealersgate - Lippogate - Chinagate - The Lewinsky Affair - Perjury and Jobs for Lewinskygate - Kathleen Willeygate - Web Hubbell Prison Phone Callgate - Selling Military Technology to the Chinesegate - Jaunita Broaddrick Gate - Lootergate - Pardongate A hero to liberals and progressives and other hypocrits. Edward Moore Kennedy - Democrat - U. S. Senator from Massachusetts. Pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident, after his car plunged off a bridge on Chappaquiddick Island killing passenger Mary Jo Kopechne. Still in office Barney Frank - Democrat - U.S. Representative from Massachusetts from 1981 to present. Admitted to having paid Stephen L. Gobie, a male prostitute, for sex and subsequently hiring Gobie as his personal assistant. Gobie used the congressman's Washington apartment for prostitution. A move to expel Frank from the House of Representatives failed and a motion to censure him failed. William "Cold Cash" Jefferson FBI found 90 grand hidden in his freezer. Investigation is on-going but most dems are backing him. Governor Bill Richardson President elect Obama selected for cabinet position until he was outed in another pay-forplay scheme. Investigation is on-going. DNC - The Federal Election Commission imposed $719,000 in fines against participants in the 1996 Democratic Party fundraising scandals involving contributions from China, Korea and other foreign sources. The Federal Election Commission said it decided to drop cases against contributors of more than $3 million in illegal DNC contributions because the respondents left the country or the corporations are defunct. Sandy Berger - Democrat - National Security Advisor during the Clinton Administration. Berger became the focus of a criminal investigation after removing highly classified terrorism documents and handwritten notes from the National Archives during preparations for the Sept. 11 commission hearings. I could go on & on & on & on... but you get the point. The only reason Blago didn't get a pass is because he crossed paths with Mr. Obama. They're doing everything they can to pull Emanuel out of the Blago quagmire but he's in waist deep, at least.
Oh yeah, Harry Reid-just a couple of things... 1) Look who got his wallet caught in the wringer. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., received a $700,000 profit for the sale of land he hadn't personally owned for three years. When an Associated Press reporter asked him about the deal, the senator hung up. 2) Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said Sunday that Democrats who took money from Indian tribes represented by Jack Abramoff and who did something on behalf of those tribes have "a big problem." Dean made the statement apparently unaware that Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid has reportedly done exactly that. In November 2005 the Associated Press reported that Senate Minority Leader Reid had accepted tens of thousands of dollars from an Abramoff client, the Coushatta Indian tribe, after interceding with Secretary of the Interior Gail Norton over a casino dispute with a rival tribe.
As I remember Obama's tax cut (middle class) was very popular...Replublican borrowed and spend...How many spending bills did Bush veto? I don't know if Harry Reid is crooked but we will never know unless he is brought up on charges. Might as well have fun ,that's what Republicans will have to do,since they are out of power. That's what I like about my Dem's ;we procecute our own party members by an overwhelming vote not stand behind them (Bush,Cheney,Libby,Vitter,& Craig) to the very end.
It is fun to just sit back and allow the democrats to prove that they are more than that stupid. Gov. Blago is crooked but Harry Reid is even more crooked, he just hasn't gotten caught yet. I can't help it, the man makes my stomach turn. Democrats never met a tax hike they did't like or a tax cut they wouldn't try to smother.
