All I posted was that I read it was $60 per share or so to break even on gm bailout.
My total disapproval of TSA screening tactics.
My opinion on health care for our lawmakers not being the same as what we will have to buy and my take on who is not stepping up to have that same coverage.
You keep calling me a fox news flunky and or a hannity wanna-be. As I have said many times before I am not a right wing Republican. I am a conservative leaning Independent/Libertarian who actually voted for a Democrat in the last election for some offices. I felt they were the best choice for those offices. Can you say the same about any Republican??
It seems that you only want comments to your blog that totally agree with your point of view. I have agreed with you in the past on a point or two and when I don't I put forth my take on the subject for others (including you) to support or oppose in this open forum. How-ever, I will never be politically correct, I will call a rose a rose, a freeloader a freeloader and a liberal a liberal. I enjoy your blogs. They do have a way of starting heated debates between those who agree with you and those who don't.
If having a different point of view than you is so unwanted why do you bother to post yours here?? If not to get some replies from us Right-wingers then it must be because you just like to read your own posts. I hope it's because you truly enjoy the debates your posts always bring about. I know I enjoy them a lot.
Mike...When I worked for the airline here, we had to put up with the No-Fly list. You wouldn't believe who's on it. It was finally fine-tuned to the point that we could do the research directly in the computer without having to telephone an office in Houston. That made it more palletable. Most times, the passenger didn't know that he showed up on the list and we were checking him. If he did know he was on the list, it seldom failed to make him mad. We had a mother go ballistic when she found out her little kid was being checked because his name matched somebody who the government said was suspect. Never did find anyone who wasn't cleared, though. I guess the terrorists haven't found their way to Victoria yet. I do think profiling is a good thing. Seventy-year old grandmas from Refugio and seven year old kids are probably not a threat to the safety of the plane.
TSA boss says the pat downs found dope. What do they do when they turn up some wacky terbaccy? I do know that if we found suspicious looking lawn clippings or white powder when we did screening before the TSA was invented, we ignored it. We weren't about to take the risk that somebody had talcum powder in a baggie and would sue us if we called the cops. We were looking for something that would endanger the plane. Weed and white powder weren't a threat. We figured there were dogs at IAH that would sniff out dope.
You usually post about once a month; then you make up for lost time with long incoherent posts that supports your right wing outlook... Then you want to say I have kool aid colored glasses...lol
As I wind down the year and especially the holiday season; I'm not gonna engage in the usual left/right and " your another one" childish games. I really wish you would not post on any of my blogs, so others that have a legitimate difference of opinion; can do so in a civil matter... I already know your point of view; all it takes is 1 hour of O'Reilly,Rush,Beck or Hannity to catch up.... Novel idea!... Why don't you write your own blog and take those agree with your right wing views, with you?
How in the world did this blog drift off into TSA screening? Oh well, the blog four days old; I guess hog laws apply.
Personally, I would not go through the screening or the pat downs and I would not want my family to go through it....But, recent polls said 80% of people said it was the right thing to do to to ensure our freedom.... I don't think many of those 80% that responded in the positive had to go through these procedure.
Having said all that,TSA has been under a lot of pressure since the attempted bombing on Christmas eve of last year. They have already made two concessions; those 12 years and under will not be patted and the pilots would not have to go through the scanner or pat downs... It is just my guess, that the pat downs will continue and the expensive scanning machines will be modified to be less intrusive until after this holiday season.. The less people fly ; the more they will cut back their security measures ...IMO
BTW when MSNBC's " Morning Joe" host Micah Brzezinski asked the TSA director if the intrusive measure have been successful; he said they have found some drugs.
This would not be an invasion of my privacy because I have an alternative way to travel. I will drive to New York City instead of flying,if I need to go.
TSA already has the no- fly list, agents are able to scrutinize those who have made trips to the Middle East, and a flag will pop up for those that buy a one way ticket or pay in cash. There are probably a lot more indicators than we are made aware of....
I suspect holly1 is another one of those social conservatives that would love to go back to the days of racial profiling; this time under the guise of National Security.... Just make all those darker skin males between the ages of 16 and 55 go through extensive screening and then publicize it to appease the Sean Hannity wannabes. Then go on and exaggerate a stance of screening infants, grandma, and the handicap to try to legitimize your stance...People can see through that smoke screen...IMO
Holly1...You're absolutely correct. The government is so afraid of being politically incorrect they refuse to profile in the screening process. This is why so many little ol' blue-haired ladies and little kids are mistreated. I also have a big issue with the TSA thugs not letting potential passengers change their mind and simply leave instead of being groped. They won't be on the plane, but our benevolent government wants to fine people $11,000 for simply deciding the trip isn't worth what the hassel of having strangers grope them in public.
Note to the TSA: treating honest, law-abiding CITIZENS as terrorists isn't the way to make people want to fly. When enough people decide that they won't fly and it begins to affect the airline's bottom lines, the airlines will get the congress critters they are paying for to make changes.
I am just not as willing as you are to give up any of my rights. You trust big brother to save you. I would much rather have the TSA agents in foreign airports scanning and groping people on all flights bound for the US than have them here doing the same. As I have no desire to travel overseas I will not have to be scanned or fondled by some government thug. Plus profiling also profiles those who act nervous and look for out of place behavior and dress to help detect suspected terrorists.
My main point was and still is instead of shredding the constitution in the name of security take steps and actions to provide that security with out violating those rights.
Place armed security on the planes to deter would be terrorists. As They have already moved on to other forms and methods of attack. government security is always fighting the last war lagging behind new tactics being devised.
You think Muslims are the only ones that can work for Al- Qaeda, or other extremists? Don't you remember the American that was in their organization? You think too small. With enough money, any nationality can be paid enough to do their bidding. People want to be safe in the air but do not want to go through any trouble to achieve that safety. IF I were to ever fly, I would rather be patted down instead of getting up in the air and finding out some moron had explosives on the plane that could have been detected if they had been patted down. Flyers have 2 choices. Go back to the way it was, or risk greater dangers. This is happening because someone has information on what is about to happen.
Mike one other point. according to what I have read and heard GM's stock will need to be over 60.00 a share before the taxpayer breaks even.
Also even after the IPO the union will still control GM and still own crysler motors not bad considering the unions bankrupted the auto industry with huge wages and pension plans that we taxpayers will have to foot the bill for since the UAW pension plans were not part of the new GM but took over by the government ( read as TAXPAYERS will have to pay. ) Now they want to unionize TSA creating another Democratic leaning union controlled government agency. More big brother telling us what to do BS. All we really need to do to have safe air travel is to PROFILE MUSLIM security risks as MUSLIMS bombed us not little old ladies or children who now must be radiated or groped by some machine or petty power hungry TSA agent in direct violation of our constitutional right against the unreasonable search and seizure policy in place now.
Mike the health care plan congress gets is no where near what Obama care is. You preach about walking the walk but I did not see any Dems running to sign up for the BS health care plan they want to force us to buy. I know you will respond that This blog is about a GOP congressman complaining about his government insurance and in reply to that I submit as proof of your party's hypocrisy a question asked by a reporter back during the debate on Obama care if they would give up their insurance and have the same coverage as Us lowly tax paying peons. Not one Democrat said YES. None of them wanted the crap they mandate we buy. So you as usual from your Kool Aide colored glasses see only what you want and ignore the overwhelming truth that the American People want no part of Obama's left wing vision for America or the massive debt your party has amassed in 2 short years.
The latest Buy back of debt with freshly printed dollars from thin air is just the latest example of foolish monetary policy this Administration has. You can't just print 600 billion dollars with out devaluing our currency which will result in higher prices and inflation. Thank goodness your party lost control of the house and many state governments. This being a census year we can also re-draw district lines returning solid republican areas of states back to the voters who by redistricting were overwhelmed by district gerrymandering in 1980 and 1990.
I suggest you do a little more READING instead of preaching half truths IN trying to get people to believe your BS.
1. I did NOT make any statements about the Federal employees health benefits... Maybe it's just it's your guilty conscience responding.... The blog about ONE particular hypocritical congressman AND I left a link to backup the post. 2. If I wanted to cut and paste of the Federal Employees health benefits page, I could've added it myself or requested it...But I didn't need it because the blog had more to do with ONE hypocritical congressman than anything else. 3. If you read the lighthearted letter the democratic legislators wrote to the leaders; a person with just a minimal amount of reading comprehension would understand that it's all a political ploy between republicans and the democrats. 4. Since you lack reading comprehension it seems like it would be to your benefit to ignore my blogs... It's not like you would be missed. 5. I do not shamelessly try to get you or anyone else to read, like, agree, or respond to the blog...You do this of your own accord.....
I suggest you do a little more research on Federal Employees Health Benefits, instead of preaching half truths to the GOP and trying to get people to believe your BS. The Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program can help you and your family meet your health care needs. Federal employees, retirees and their survivors enjoy the widest selection of health plans in the country. You can choose from among Consumer-Driven and High Deductible plans that offer catastrophic risk protection with higher deductibles, health savings/reimbursable accounts and lower premiums, or Fee-for-Service (FFS) plans, and their Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO), or Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) if you live (or sometimes if you work) within the area serviced by the plan.

Holly1.
You said, "If it is illegal to own guns, only criminals will have them." Well what those right wing milita/nutjobs you ally yourself with?
December 5, 2010 at 1:46 a.m.To All.
The 2nd Amendment is the original Dept. of Home land Security.
It allowed the formation of militia units to protect ourselves and the right to own guns (bear arms ) for that end.
An unarmed citizen is nothing more than a subject/slave of the govt. that bans those arms.
If it is illegal to own guns, only criminals will have them.
an armed society is a free society.
The main reason we have not been invaded is because of the number of citizens who own guns.
