• MIKE!!! WE AGREE ABOUT SOMETHING!!! .. I too hate the DH because if you can't adequately field your position, you're taking up a roster spot.

Let's do something to change that agreeing..:-)

Like everyone else, I hated to see Nolan Ryan go, but in the era of free agency; I won't let business decisions influence my ticket buying decisions.... In the recent trade of Roy Oswald and Lance Berkman; I was just hoping for some good prospects.... That should put things back perspective...:-)

  • MIKE!!! WE AGREE ABOUT SOMETHING!!! I also hate the designated hitter rule. So much strategy is removed from the game with the DH.

As for Nolan Ryan's departure from Houston...I lived in Houston back then. My wife and I went to a weekend game toward the end of the season mainly because Ryan was pitching that night. Had NO idea he wouldn't be back the next year. As it turns out, that was the last time I bought a ticket for an Astros game.

A lot of people I have know through the years, lost interest after the Nolan Ryan departure and the way it was handled.

It's gonna be even a longer season now that the Asros have fired their pitching coach for " philosophical differences"...I think it more to do with the teams 4.69 ERA..:-)...They are replacing the pitching coach with a former player for the Astros,Doug Brocail, who has never been a pitching coach. He is on interim basis,I can't see how that will instill a lot of confidence in a young pitcher.

  • All righty then, they will be the worse team in the AL. Been a Astros fan since day one. Had a sharp drop in interest when they lost Nolan. Remindeds me of my "Luv Ya Blue" days. Long past............
