Live from New York! ...It's Political Parody Time!

Ah yes, it's my favorite time of the political season. Now that the candidates are in full swing with their campaigns, the political parodies have begun. And Saturday Night Live came out swinging with their latest skit featuring Tina Fey as Sarah Palin.

If you haven't seen it yet, click on the You Tube link. I thought Fey nailed it and Amy Poehler is hysterical as Hillary Clinton.

Regardless of who you are going to vote for, you have to love the SNL parodies. It gives us all a chance to laugh at how ridiculous these campaigns end up getting. And although SNL is past its golden era, the one thing they have always done best is mock our government, which, let's be honest, is often (and/or always) warranted.

Over the years, SNL actors have nailed their impressions of the top officials in the White House. Just a few of my favorites:

Dana Carvey as George Bush Sr. (Not...Gonna...Doit) and Ross Perot (I'm ALL ears!)

Will Ferrell as George W. Bush ("Strategerie")

Phil Hartman as Bill Clinton

Chevy Chase as Gerald Ford

Darryl Hammond as Al Gore ("Lockbox")

And more recently, Tina Fey as Sarah Palin (on global warming: "I believe it's just God hugging us closer...").

So just remember as November approaches, it's not just about campaign strategerie, it's also about being able to laugh at ourselves and our leaders.
