For those that don't know, Perez Hilton is a blogger who became famous for being famous (if you've ever read his blog, you can probably figure out why...the literary elite he is not).

PerezHilton.com is the place to go to for the latest celebrity gossip and Hilton made a name for himself by being the original Gossip Guy.

But now, according to The Evil Beet Web site, Hilton is trying his hand at a new format: A new Web site that has longer editorial content and is to focus on fashion called CocoPerez.com (I have a feeling Coco Chanel may be rolling over in her grave right now).

Now don't get me wrong. I have nothing against Perez Hilton. But he is not the person I would go to find out what's new in haute couture this week. He's the guy I go to to find funny pictures of celebrities in embarrassing situations and to indulge in my guilty pleasure of reading probably-not-true rumors ("Angelina adopting all of Africa's children!").

And I'm not alone. After poking around on the site, The Evil Beet had this to say:

"Ohhhhhh man. Dude, you’re not cut out for 'longer-form' editorial. The more you 'write,' the more obvious it becomes that you’re a gossip hound and famewhore, but clearly not a 'writer.' This concept doesn’t play to your strengths; rather, it exposes your weaknesses."

Ouch.

I guess only time will tell if Hilton can pull this off. Until then, I'll just stick with my Vogue.

P.S. In case you missed it, or just can't get enough Perez Hilton news, a few months back I I wrote another blog about the infamous blogger when he got in a scrape with the Black-Eyed Peas. Perez, Fergie and Twitter, oh my!
